What's up with that moniker?

Some of us use our actual name, I did for this forum because I thought it was important as a partner to be open about who I am as an owner. But in most other internet spaces I am LCAILLO, which was one of the first internet usernames I had, assigned on the UNIX system at LSU before most of the internet as we know it now existed. I just stuck with it over the years anytime I could assign a user name.

So what is the story behind your user name? I see some curious ones already showing up here at avnirvana.com.

Pretty simple. My last name is Mechelke and my friends call me "Mech". So I just added a "man" on the end! :T

Sometimes that name is taken so then I just try to go with "mech", "smech" or "smechman". First name is Steve. :nerd:

Mine is fairly obvious... However, I use a different moniker on other forums because I found that a site was leaking my full name, location, and date of birth from a simple search of the moniker I used. (All of which was quickly updated)

Mine comes from my younger days. I had longer dark brown hair and was always very tan. When it came to being in the woods, well, lets just say I've always been pretty savvy with the critters. One day me and the fellas where hunting in the swamp & one critter tried to get away into some thick stuff. I always had about 40 feet of speaker cable on my head light. So I slip out of the boat & follow him in. The rest of this story get a little entence, but to make a long story short...One of the fellas thought I looked like an Indian during all that & called me Tonto as I was easing back into the boat. Well it stuck, so there you have it. Not as good a story as some...but it's mine.

Mine is pretty simple as well. Have always been into sci-fi and I've had a '68 Nova for many years. Been using nova for almost 30 years. When I ran my own multi line BBS using TBBS and DESQview 386 it was Nova's Nebula. When I joined a BBS or forum and that user name was already taken I would go with 11427 which are the first five digits of the vin code for V8 Nova's.

Well lets see, my fathers name was John as was his fathers and when I was allowed to enter this world, they names me John as well. This worked for awhile, but then when we were all in the same room, there was some trouble. So my grandparents called my dad Jack and me Jackie, which was dropped as I got older and became just Jack. When my wife found our I was a Jackie she had an idea that because we now live in the country, I should be Jackie Jo, and no it does not work so just jack

I was Bob and Bobby as a kid and changed to Robert or Rob when I made my own decisions on how I prefer to be called.

I've always liked it when folks named John used Jack. It reminds me of JFK.
