Good evening everyone. So I got a new but, old peice of Equipment from my work. It’s a Radio Shack P.A. / Amplifier with 4 microphone inputs and Record and Cd and Tape. The Model Number is MPA-101 100 Watt PA Amplifier. I know it doesn’t have Phantom
power but, Can I use it to measure my speakers with Rew? I can Buy a regular omni mic that doesn’t need phantom power. I was hoping I could run it through my computer? If this is not possible then I will have to buy, an interface with Phantom power. I just wanted to check before I went and spent money I didn’t have to? Please advise me. Thanks Jeff

You could use the PA as an amplifier for your audio system, that your speakers would connect to. However even with a mic, it can’t be used for measurements because it doesn’t have a USB connection to your computer.

You need to describe the signal loop you want to use. Eg. New mic to a PA amp mic input. A PA amp output (somewhere along the signal chain in the PA amp, and at a suitable level that can be input to your PC's soundcard input. Use a separate amp to drive a speaker using your PC and soundcard output. Another option is to split the PA amp signal path (eg. like a SEND/Receive or pre-out/main-in) and use the two separated parts of the PA amp for your testing.

Okay This is all I needed to know👍. It will be easier to buy, an Interface with a usb and a phantom power supply. or I might be able to get my hands on a mixer that has all these features and more? Thanks for answering my questions. I will keep you update. Happy 4th of July. Jeff
