New Audiolense releases

I updated Audiolense after 18 months, and I created new filters with the same parameters to test the changes. I noticed it sounds in a totally different way now. Much better. Am I losing my mind? Maybe I did something wrong? Or are the fixed bugs related to calculation the reason?

I got XO license, but I do not need it anymore because I use professional studio equipment with very good software XO. Will the normal surround license extension work with my current one?

I can’t recall any changes thad should lead to such a sonic improvement lately, so maybe you have done something slightly different this time.

Normal surround will work for multichannel, but you’ll most likely get better sound with Audiolense xo still. The TTD correction always tends to improve the sound, and the added tweakability often adds a little more.

@juicehifi With latest version, after creating a new setup for Atmos 5.1.4 (I didn't try other setups), the routing matrix for the 5.1.4 configuration is not automatically created (you can create it via dropdown menu option). Shouldn't a default routing be automatically created with the new layout?

Also, after creating the new setup, attempting to edit a different speaker setup creates an unhandled exception.
Just load a different setup and then try to edit it. Once you do that, you can't edit any setup without an unhandled exception ocurring.

I think you should be able to replicate all of this.

Thanks

The most recent version come with many pre-defined formats. And it would be pointless to include them all as default for the generation of correction filters. So you have to choose them manually.

Understood. But it still seems a bit odd that if you create i.e. a 5.1.4 configuration that the routing matrix is 2.0 and not the 5.1.4 configuration. Granted it's easy enough to generate it.

But the larger problem si that unhandled exception. For me it is not possible to load and edit a configuration.
That is what I think you should be able to replicate. Thanks

Edit: I think exception is when you try to laod a speaker configuration created in a previous version of AL.

The Atmos release involved changes to the speaker setup that made old setups obsolete. This also meant that old measurements could only be loaded if a new matching setup was created first. This have now been fixed and old setups will load.

Quick test of 27 and so far it seems good. Thanks

1) Seems like there are still some issues with the speaker setup. From Speakers tab; Adding speakers from the drop down and then selecting the Play Back Format and Channel Routing tab results in nhandled exception.

Sometimes it occurs after one speaker is added, but it always happens when I add a second speaker and then select the Play Back Format tab.

2) Also just a general question about subwoofers with Atmos configurations. Should the Add Speaker drop down have a selection to add additional subwoofers? Currently it does not.

I'm on 6.26. Do you recommend uninstalling the previous release before installing the new release (in this case 6.27)? I want to make sure I keep all my configuration changes if possible.

Did a bit more testing and for #1 - If you add all speakers and then first save the setup before switching tabs, this seems to avoid the unhandled exception, so there seems to be a workaround.
For #2, I still have question with adding subwoofer to Atmos configurations.

With the new release I am not sure what you mean regarding the +10db amplification. Does this comment mean that if you selected an Atmos configuration then selecting +10db setting had no effect, but if you have non-Atmos configuration it is working?

Implemented custom speakers for Atmos and waveformat setups, and for Atmos and waveformat playback formats. In other words, the speaker setup and the playback formats can be customized even more than before. The names and descriptions of the custom speakers are editable. In addition:

  • Fixed a bug that prevented very large speaker setups.
  • Fixed a bug that raised an exception related to modifications of Atmos playback formats.
Some of these modifications are possibly relevant only for “lab use” (custom multichannel setups and formats). A limited functionality test has been done with more than 100 speakers and more than 50 playback channels.

Hi Dr Bernt,
Recent release of ALXO seems preventing users using 192KHz or higher sampling rate for log sweep. In some cases using audio interface’s native sampling rate (for example, Merging Tech’s 352.8KHz) can significantly reduce pre-ringing when doing log sweep and also make FIR filter’s latency shorter. I’d like to request to remove such restrictions. Thank you!

You can still do this, you just have to include the frequency from the setup menu.
I tried but don’t know why the recent version of ALXO not allowing me to add such frequencies… I’m staying with version 6.21 just because of that.

Needs to be added to the Setup/Optional Sampling Frequencies. If added from Measurement / Sample Settings / Sampling Frequency / Customize List and it's not on the Setup menu it doesn't "stick".
