8ch dac for AL and Roon?

Good to know, that’s an important one. I’m still debating between the motu or the fireface ucx II. Both look solid
I can't remember why I decided against the Fireface. Oh yes, I remember now. It only has 6 analog outputs and it's twice the cost;.

You’ve got that right :)
What you'll notice after using Audiolense is that all this other stuff becomes laughable. Dac chip, cables, power, sun location, temp, daylight, blah blah blah.

I came across with a gentleman selling the Okto8 Pro for 1000eur (less than 1y old) You mentioned on your first post it was a no go. Was it due to availability or another reason? The Motu MK5 is 750eur where I live. Does the okto justifies the 250eur extra?

If the Okto was readily available AND if the company understood basic business communication, I'd happily own one. Their lack of communication is something I just can't get past. If / when you need service then what?

So for me, Motu was a no brainer given their history and you call the number or send an email and actually get a response. This thread on ASR is quite eye opening and I suggest you take a look before diving in on Okto. That being said, if the €1.000:00 is peanuts to you if they folded, sure, go for it. I put that out there should it be pocket change for you and you willing to accept that risk.

Definitely not peanuts, so your perspective is very valid. I had similar concerns. It is a 5-people company. What happens if they go bankrupt in 6 months? (I hope not). The support structure is something important and Motu wins here hands down.
Thanks for the link. I am now on page 12 and people are getting impatient. That’s the gamble with such a small company.

Well, they have no excuse then for not returning emails. Wait until you get further in...it's sad. One must return emails..it's the only lifeline. I think the only thing saving them currently is that they're the only reasonable game in town for what they have (MCH, std XLR, objectively "perfect" etc) If Topping or someone else decides to get into it, they could be in trouble if they cease to change their ways. My IMO of course.

Fully with you, no excuse for irresponsibility…

Wait till you get to the end of that thread...

The Okto is a great piece of kit and I have no regrets purchasing it BUT communication is really necessary. The Motu MK5's are out of stock until later this quarter, the 8A and some of their larger full size rack models work too.

Why not consider exaSound 8 channel Dac

Why not consider exaSound 8 channel Dac, S88, Roon ready, music server

The price is ridiculous and completely unnecessary.

A Foolish response!

Considering I use something that is 10% the cost and does an equal job from an objective standpoint, I'd disagree.

What is an equal job ? You mean it has 8 channels or does it have the signal to noise?
maybe you’re using a miniDSP is that’s an equal job you’re speaking of?

If your system can’t discern the difference than your in the Right place.

As I mentioned, objective performance.

Discern the difference? :rofl2:

miniDSP? huh? I use AL.

Your missing the point, this is thread about which 8 channel DAC is recommended NOT Audiolense foolish responses

Since I started this thread, I'm aware of what it's about..hence why I included AL within the title.

Okto is back and shipping units (slowly).

Hopefully when global parts shortage eventually improves, Okto can be back in full swing.

And hopefully there's new competition.

Still can count on one hand, the number of 8 channel DACs that feature IR remote volume control.

Hi,

I was showing your great responses to a friend and he asked me about RT60. Do you have those as well? Would you be able to share?
Many thanks!
Since the measurements are done in REW, it can generate them. I haven't though.
