Hi Folks, a quick note on what should have been the Chane entry(s). First, it almost goes without saying that Sonnie and crew are always on the top of my list for model evaluations. With history as a guide, AV NIRVANA is one of the few conversation boards where audio is actively practiced and real results published. Putting experienced people in front of real product is the only thing that actually works and for that this team always have Chane's support.
The L7. The concept for this model came about as demand for an A5+ filled in after the A5's debut. It was a natural interest and I was happy to oblige. (The L series is to have deluxe finishes and appointments and the 7 series designates the next larger floor speaker in the series, after a model 6 large center speaker.)
The L7 concept soon explored multiple technology options and morphed into a second version in the first six months, as I recall. That led to another iteration and then an alternate manufacturing strategy developed. Then another. Then a fourth iteration of the technology. And so on; you get the idea.
Meanwhile the need I had for the line also changed from container volume to JIT assembly, testing, and fulfillment in the US, which when you're aiming at extreme value and very high tech together is challenging. Local JIT opens up model options and provided nothing else is compromised, model options eventually prove to be king.
And that puts us at today's date, a very long time from the first notion of an L7. What I can offer in Chane's defense is that the L program's workings continue to make the endeavor most exciting, and that from that investment we are nearing real product. The lengthy development has given us options we didn't have before, and I think they're crucial. It's exciting.
Chane has been gifted with AV NIRVANA's interest in our products and I pledge to fulfill it. A primary, personal reason is simply the joy of getting an ideal into flesh and blood and having that vision make sense among music and cinema lovers. We'd been gifted with that experience with the original A5 and it will be a genuine honor to try and fulfill it again. Greatly appreciated...
