Wow, I knew AXPONA keeps growing but didn't expect I would be too late to get a room onsite. Bummer, for 2020 I guess I will have to book my room in August or something like that. Also the Renaissance told me the other hotels on their site were also booked up, but I would double check that just to be sure. So I booked a room through Travelocity, got a two beds for 4 nights. I like to get there early, instead fighting Chicago traffic coming 90 miles away the morning of the show.

Staying at the Country Inn & Suites by Radisson in Schaumburg, about 2 miles from Woodfield Mall. It has a 4.5/5 rating, pool, hot tub and full breakfast included. I didn't see any upgrades other a King size bed to the rooms so I got the lowest one $99.

Anybody else pull a bonehead like me, or maybe you just plan ahead better? This is first AXPONA I will be staying offsite, hopefully it won't be too much of a pain in the bunghole.

Where I am staying at:

I booked at the last minute last year and had no trouble finding accommodations very close by. It was at the Embassy Suites IIRC. Unfortunately I had to bail on the show though due to that nasty snowstorm that came through.

I'm considering going this year. There's a Medieval Times in Schaumberg, and I love me some Medieval Times.

Yes, I'm that guy.

I can't believe HBO hasn't bought that chain and turned it into a Game of Thrones Dinner Theater.

@TitaniumTroy I feel your pain. Being on site is really nice... and I'm super picky about hotels ;-). Makes it tough when you can't what you what, when you want it!

I’m driving in every day but can’t wait to see you all there!

Last year I had to leave every morning at 7am to get in on time and avoid rush hour. Only time in my life I took a vacation so I could work and get up even earlier than i would for work.

We'll be at the SpringHill Suites by Marriott. The Renaissance is fairly expensive and we can't use our business card rewards points there, whereas we can stay for free at the Marriott.

Ive been to the Medieval Times there and it is good. Love having some surf crawl through the mud for a couple pennies.

There are two other Marriott properties within a mile of the Renaissance. The Springhill Suites and the Residence Inn.

We're all staying at Days Inn, $61 a night, 2 miles away.
