Hi there,

I'm looking for the best possible, yet simple and elegant solution (also needs to be budget friendly as its only intended to be used with given provider... preferrably via LAN connection... well, and with Spotify, as an option maybe if they go hi-fi tier sometime...) in order to feed my 2.1ch stereo... needs to be a "built-in" as I hate to use phone app for this... simple, net-radio style, turn it ON with remote (or on/off switch) and play the "flow"... is such a device does exist? thanks!

p.s. I did some research myself before posting, but cant find any suitable, based on the above requirements...

Hey there Iggy!

Ok... just so I understand what you're looking for... you want a streaming device that allows you to internet radio with the additional possibility of streaming Spotify? You don't want it to be app based?

Not sure what you mean by "play the flow"...

I am currently using Bluesound NODE. Actually got an older used model on Ebay. I am new to streaming and was concerned about sound quality. I can say that the Bluesound is equal or better than cd's. I just Googled it and it does support Deezer Hi-Fi. The newest Bluesound has new improved DAC's.

For Deezer, I use a Sonos Port connected to my AVR using digital coax, so the DAC's in the Port are unused. Sonos supports a number of streaming services, including Tidal, Quboz, Apple, Amazon and Pandora. Not sure what you mean by preferring not to use a phone app, though. Typically, you need an app to select what music you want to listen to, create playlists, etc. For Sonos, the app runs on an iOS or Android device, and is full-featured and easy to use. The app has a button that will show you the quality of the track being streamed, typically FLAC.

Hi Todd,

As Deezer Hi-Fi has a "flow" mode (continuous music streaming algorithm based on user genre preferences, etc), and this is the main advantage of it which I want to utilize (Spotify and net radio is only an option, as I'm happy with the music library Deezer has so far), and the main feature I'm looking from the streaming device is a possibility to utilize its Dezeer "built-in" plugin such way that no prior fiddling with the phone app needed, just set a preset button once and once button ON is pressed or via remote it starts playing (so again, no need for the phone app as such after initial, one-time setup)... I found that Nuprime's Stream 9 device does exactly that, but a bit over budget for just one humble Deezer feature of it :) Sure there might be other brands/devices but my research yielded no results yet...

You didn't comment on my suggestion for using Sonos. Is the Sonos app a level of complication you are trying to avoid? Sonos certainly lets you access Deezer's Flow mode. I don't want to judge, but most subscribers to streaming audio want a certain degree of control over what they are streaming. If you want simplicity, I certainly would not recommend Roon, because its features and level of complexity would likely make your head explode.

great recommend!

I saw that list before, but most of it consists of hi-end gear (which is not so budget friendly as well), while my idea was/is to find a small, dedicated streamer with knobs/presets feature, which will give me the desired functionality and w/o using phone app or PC, as not everyone is so gifted as some "Roon-heads" there :)
Wish Volumino on miniDSP platform has Deezer support, but it doesn't...

You don’t need amplification… just a streamer, correct?

Yes, correct...

Btw thought to upgrade my ole tx-8050 for tx-rz50 but the rig keeps strong, yet, since 2015...

Chromecast Deezer, Spotify, TuenIn Radio, etc to your TV and from your TV back to your A/V receiver from your A/V receiver to your AMP and Speakers... I have no direct experience with this and remember reading about something like this somewhere... That tx-rz50 looks nice and at >1k$ ouch...

re: Chromecast Deezer

Ok thanks for the input, but it's known solution, but we are loosing some "traction" here since my point is to avoid using any extra control device to start the listenning session, be it an app on the phone or on the PC... I'm looking at the "built-in" solution, so you need the control app only at the innitial setup time ( hopefully ) and after it's done, you just free to press a button ( such as ON/OFF switch, or on the remote (if any) )
to start playing Deezer "flow",
all "NET-radio" style...

I've seen some interesting Raspberry Pi hacks that could work... And then again maybe not... Good luck in your search...

Devices, with hardware preset buttons and with Deezer app "built-in" do exist, it's only matter of budget...
