(April 9, 2025) SVS is expanding its subwoofer lineup with the newly announced 5000 R|Evolution Series, a performance-driven duo that borrows key technologies from the company’s flagship 17-Ultra R|Evolution Series but scales them down into more accessible packages. The new SB-5000 R|Evolution (sealed) and PB-5000 R|Evolution (ported) models mark a step forward in performance and control, arriving with a fresh platform built around a newly developed 15-inch driver, dual monoblock amplification, and what SVS is calling the most powerful onboard DSP ever deployed in a home subwoofer.

SVS fans attending AXPONA 2025 can check out the sealed SB-5000 firsthand in the company’s 2-channel demo room (Rooms 1442 and 1444).

At the heart of both subs is a proprietary 15-inch long-throw driver—the first of its kind for SVS. The new design features a dual edge-wound voice coil connected to a 38-pound toroidal ferrite magnet, driven by a dual monoblock STA-2000D amplifier rated at 2,000 watts continuous and 5,000+ watts peak. SVS pairs this power with a 295MHz Analog Devices DSP platform that shapes in-room response, manages system performance, and enables app-based control over a wide range of settings.

To handle that power without stressing home circuits, SVS designed a robust onboard power supply featuring power factor correction and an AC line conditioner that helps regulate voltage and eliminates interference from EMI/RFI sources.

On the materials side, the voice coil uses copper-clad aluminum wire to balance heat resistance with magnetic efficiency, while a lightweight glass fiber dustcap is designed to move air with punishing precision. The sub’s surround is made from parabolic NBR (nitrile butadiene rubber), allowing for greater excursion and longevity.

The SB-5000 is a sealed unit with a frequency response of 17Hz to 280Hz (±3dB), while the PB-5000 offers multiple tuning modes: 15Hz to 180Hz with all ports open, 13Hz to 180Hz in extended mode, and 16Hz to 270Hz in sealed mode.

Future updates will bring Auto EQ Room Correction to the 5000 R|Evolution Series via the SVS smartphone app. The system will use a phone’s built-in mic to perform basic room measurements and apply EQ filters to help smooth in-room bass response at key listening positions. The SVS app also offers granular control over volume, crossover, phase, polarity, parametric EQs, room gain compensation, and more. Users can store up to three presets for different listening scenarios, providing quite a bit of flexibility for different listening modes.

Both subs are available in Black Oak Wood Veneer or Piano Gloss Black finishes, with pricing for the SB-5000 landing at $1,999.99 (Black Oak) and $2,099.99 (Piano Gloss). The PB-5000 is slightly more expensive, starting at $2,499.99 (Black Oak) and topping out at $2,699.99 (Piano Gloss).

SVS says the subs are shipping now in the U.S., with international availability expected in the coming weeks. For more information, visit svsound.com.

Can't wait to hear these this weekend!

You're tasked with posting some pics and a full report!!
Welp, so much for that. I won't be making it to AXPONA this weekend. My buddy's dad passed away and the services are Saturday. Stinks when the real world interferes with the A/V world.

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear that.

Real world is way more important than the AV World - you're making the choice to be there for your friend.
