Boxing: Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Conor McGregor

Let us know if it is worth the hype and ppv money! :)

Got my group a table right up front, no cover charge. Waiting for the main event, but it seems some pay per view sites are down.

Very impressive. Looks like the fight went very long..

Per espn, "Floyd Mayweather defeats Conor McGregor by TKO in 10th round"

McGregor was a little bit of a fish out of water. He just looked awkward and his instincts were definitely geared toward MMA style fighting. Mayweather looked a little rusty, but his technique and strategy allowed him to wear down McGregor. McGregor, despite what he claims, was about to get knocked out cold. The ref had to stop that fight. The whole tenor of the fight changed in the last 3 rounds and there was nothing McGregor could do to stop Mayweather.

Pretty impressive that a 40 year old guy could come out of retirement and pull that off.

I think the re-match should take place in the MMA cage!

Agree Todd! I'd definitely buy that fight if it was MMA style. I don't care what it costs.

I said this before, a wrestler does not box. I'll say this now, a boxer does not wrestle.

It appears that Mayweather knows both.

Conor tough...If he would just lose the verbal diarrhea he would seem more personable...IMHO

Good to hear that it was enjoyable for folks and worth the money. Better than some boxing matches where it only lasts a min or less -- Tyson.

McGregor last longer than I thought he would, but his post-match assessment that the ref should have let the fight continue was wrong. He was about to get KO-ed.

Mayweather is an amazing fighter within the rules of boxing... but I'd bet a decent sum of cash that he'd last less than 4 min in the octagon! I'd almost feel scared for the guy in that scenario!

MMA style is definitely different that is for sure and any boxer wouldn't last..

Boxing vs. MMA. The difference here is Mayweather is not at all saying he can compete on that field. On the other hand, McGregor bit off more than he can chew.

Kudos to him for him trying, nobody can take that away, but Conor is no boxer. He had no idea how to pace himself, no clue what his striking distance was. Floyd covered up the first 2, letting Conor wear himself down with mostly useless blows. Then, each round following, Floyd would go into the same defense mode until he read that Conor was fatigued, then he would bring the speed punches and walk Conor back. The judges, I had to laugh at their scoring the two at parity.

The fight went just as I thought it would and it was apparent by Round 9 that it was near its close. I do gotta say, McGregor's stamina, although he wasted it early on, lasted longer than I expected. Funny that Mayweather dotted both eyes. Both went home having made a bundle and Conor learned a lesson. A lot of people did. ;)

True, but I think both learned a lesson. The reality is although outmatched Conor was able to step into Mayweathers realm and compete. God help Mayweather if he attempted the same. If I had to choose someone to watch my back in a survival situation I know who I'd pick.

I'd like to see Conor back in the ring with another boxer. Think he would try that again?

He could always try on GGG for size.

Did anybody stream the fight? Looks like there were lot of problems..

from mmajunkie,

"The UFC is “incredibly disappointed” that its attempt to stream Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor to paying fans didn’t work out so well. Probably not as disappointed as the people who paid $100 for a fight they didn’t get to see, but still.

Showtime, on the other hand? It’s so disappointed that it’s actually willing to use those magic words – “a full refund” – when expressing its sorrow, which is nice, but also the least you can do when you sell people a product that you don’t actually deliver."

There was at least one unscheduled fight, but maybe two, to fill in the gap while technical difficulties were smoothed over?

Looks like folks are getting refund..

We watched it on Facebook... with nearly a million other viewers. Free! I would have NEVER paid for it, but it was a fun watch. I thought Conor was winning up until those last few rounds. He was hitting baby face a lot more that he was getting hit. BUT... when Floyd realized Conor was give out, he poured it on and it was obviously too much.

Conor would mess up his face if they were fighting without gloves.

Floyd was in control almost 100% of the time, Conor got played. The only real mystery is why it went 10 rounds and only Floyd knows the answer to that.
