At CES this year TV manufactures are adding and taking away features. They’re adding AI features that are quite disruptive to privacy, such as voice-activated listening with software. For instance, the LG new remote lacks an Input button; instead, you have to “talk” to it to change the input. Some of these new “software” services are available only on a subscription basis.

On the positive side, I’m glad I use a LG ProBeam projector with AppleTV instead of the “software OS” that comes with the unit. The remote that came with the projector is one of the worst I’ve ever seen, fortunately, I don’t have to use it because of my AppleTV. I don’t have to deal with any annoying advertisements either. Additionally, this projector doesn’t have a higher refresh rate than 60p.

The manufacturers appear to prioritize catering user data and selling advertisements to enhance their financial performance rather than focusing on hardware development.

You’re preaching to the choir with me… the only kind of advanced processing I’m looking for is on the image side of the equation. All of the other AI niceties, especially those that require a camera or a microphone, can park it at the door IMO!

I suppose some folks like it, but I don't care to be talking to my TV in our home or even the radios in our vehicles. I probably should learn to talk to the radios in our vehicles. It may be safer, but I don't have many presets in my truck, and changing them on my steering wheel is easy. Talking to the TV in the house, though... just can't do it.

Hopefully, these A.I. options will be just that: options to upgrade if you want to pay the extra. Please don't charge me extra if I have no plans to use it.

I don't use the TV remote anyway, but I can see where others would if they don't use a separate box like Apple TV, FireCube, Roku, etc. I like the Apple remote... it's small, and I can keep it in my hand or in my cupholder right next to me to skip forward during boring filler scenes. I know I'm probably in the minority here, but I could really care less about watching sex scenes on TV. Skip, skip, skip. :rolleyesno:
