Dayton UMM-6 vs. UMIK-1 comparison

Yep... all sounds very reasonable to me. It's all getting fixed, always a good thing. Thanks for the update Jerry. :T

Well that looks much, much better.

It will be interesting to see what CSL finds when they measure their sample.
 
Mmm, am I reading this wrong? To my eye there is no change at all in the Centre and Subs only graphs.
 
Tx I was kinda ignoring below below 20Hz. What does the first graph represent?

The first graph is simply a plot of the calibration file entries--frequency vs. offset. It highlights the differences in the two files.

@goginux it would be interesting if we could actively look at those, comparing particular ones with others etc. Could you post the .mdat?

Thank you goginux. It seems all of them are doing a good job, and just one disagrees by a noticeable number of dBs at HF.
 
I only use umik-1 and sonarworks + focusrite, with the 2, audyssey and dayton I did a few years ago when I didn't have these.
 
measurements with calibration file and without calibration.speaker sony ssb1,vifa midbass,seas tweeter.

I have a UMIK-1 that was calibrated by Spectrum Labs that measured the exact same as another unit that came straight from miniDSP. I did not use moving mic... not sure you could really get an apples to apples comparison with averaging. I use a program to center the mic, and mark the mic holder and measure tip to ceiling to be sure I get it as close as possible. You might see .5dB difference here and there, but for the most part it should be close.

I used to suggest Pink Noise with one channel polarity reversed. There should be a null at the centre.

I have 2 umik1
1 umik2 from cross spectrum (that’s new and haven’t tried yet)
1 UMM6
2 audio control cm-10s
1 ecm -8000

the cm10 sounds the best, but had the worst response (just has amazing voicing from factory (

umm6 sounds better then both umik1

both umik1s dont sound the same

This is from tuning professionally hundreds of dsps in cars

mostly using Dirac live and the same perfectly flat target.

Umm6 sounds better then umik1 (it just does)

ecm8000 surprisingly sounds pretty good also….. very decent. A lot like the cm10

i will try the umik2 tomorrow from cross spectrum and let you know what I think

umik1 still works and does the job… something is too hot on the HF on both of them to my ears.
 
I have 6 microphones bought and some built by me,dbx rta-m and umik-1 are calibrated to CSL,ecm8000 is calibrated at dr. jordan in germany,xref 20r5 is calibrated by the factory, as well as dayton imm-6.I will make some measurements for comparison.
