(September 2, 2021) As covered in our recent Onkyo, Pioneer Elite, and Integra Deep Dive, Dirac and its Dirac Live room correction platform are now featured on the majority of new AV receiver models developed by Onkyo, Pioneer, Elite, and Integra. While this new partnership gives fans of Onkyo and Pioneer gear access to cutting-edge room correction technologies, it also marks the first time that consumers will have access to Dirac Live in big-box electronics stores, such as Best Buy. For more information, read our deep dive and the official Dirac press release (below).

UPPSALA, Sweden, August 25, 2021 — In a move to meet growing consumer demand for high-quality audio in mainstream home theater systems, Swedish digital audio pioneer Dirac announced collaboration with leading electronics manufacturers Onkyo, Pioneer, Pioneer Elite, and Integra to bring its award-winning Dirac Live room correction feature to the companies’ newest line-up of audio and video receivers.

For over 10 years, Dirac has been the leader in room correction for the high-end market, working with virtually all of the premium markets’ most acclaimed brands. However, this integration with Onkyo, Pioneer, Pioneer Elite, and Integra – four of the industry’s largest and most well-respected receiver brands by volume – delivers Dirac Live from the few to many, equipping more consumers with a home theater audio experience previously only available through higher-priced systems.

“Mainstream consumers are demanding premium audio more than ever before. Onkyo, Pioneer, Pioneer Elite, and Integra recognize that the highest quality can be achieved through sophisticated room correction software like Dirac Live – which impacts sound quality even more than any hi-res audio format,” said Erik Rudolphi, Dirac’s VP of Home & Pro Audio. “In collaboration with four of the industry’s most iconic brands, Dirac is proving that the world’s best room correction software is not just for audiophiles. It’s for everyone.”

Regardless of an audio system’s inherent performance, a room’s size, shape, surfaces, and even furniture can alter how sound waves travel – which results in sound colorations. Dirac Live’s room correction feature analyzes a room’s speakers and acoustics to optimize sound quality with patented impulse response technology without requiring expensive acoustic treatments. The result is more balanced sound, enhanced clarity, improved intelligibility of vocals and music, and more accurate staging – all of which are critical to a premium home theatre experience.

Dirac Live’s room correction feature is now available in the new Onkyo TX-NR7100 and TZ-RZ50; the new Pioneer Elite VSX-LX305 and Elite VSX-LX505; and the new Integra DRX-5.4 and DRX-3.4.

"We couldn't be more excited to offer to our legions of loyal customers the tremendous advantages that Dirac brings to our new lineup of AV Receivers in 2021,” stated Rolf Hawkins, Product Manager for Onkyo, Pioneer, Pioneer Elite and Integra, at Premium Audio Company. “The decades of high-performance audio design Onkyo, Pioneer, Pioneer Elite, and Integra are famous for are brought to the forefront of any home theater space, thanks to Dirac Live's unique and industry-leading room correction. It doesn't get any better than this!"

The move to integrate Dirac Live into new Onkyo, Pioneer, Pioneer Elite, and Integra AVRs means Dirac’s cutting-edge room correction solution is now attainable by consumers at their nearest electronics store, such as Best Buy.

This is excellent news Todd. I've been wanting to have Dirac for sometime and these receivers are priced for my budget.
Do you use Dirac with the mic just like with Audyssey or do you need to buy more software?

Yup, this is extremely exciting news. This new Onkyo/Pioneer gear is looking like it will be very competitive in the market.

Dirac, on these models, can be used in two ways: (1) with a provided microphone and app or (2) with a UMIK-1 or 2 microphone and a PC/Mac.

Head over to the RZ50's owner's thread (https://www.avnirvana.com/threads/onkyo-rz50-owners-thread.9250/)... the first owner in the group has used the app. I'm sure he'd be happy to give you a rundown of what the app experience is like!

Thank you Todd. I really appreciate the info. I will get on that thread.

Could there be a benefit in buying a UMIK-2 instead of an UMIK-1 for calibration or otherwise for REW?
From some comparisons here on the forum and other threads, the UMIK-1 seems to be more accurate.
And also the price difference here is quite huge with €111 for the UMIK-1 and more then double for the UMIK-2 at €258

I see the specs mention Pioneers Advanced MCACC and Dirac. Does this mean users can also use the Advanced MCACC or Pioneer has not updated the specs?

Yes, that should be possible

But I guess almost nobody would use that since Dirac is considered better by most.

Interesting how they would still implement MCACC considering Dirac is better and for cost reasons.

I think because it is already available and within their programming software because of the lower models that don’t have Dirac.

I haven't looked through the manual... perhaps Zone 2 speakers are only handled by MCACC?

Any on Long Island NY with one of these properly set up yet? would love a demo when possible.:T
