Nice. Looking forward to tips. :)

Thank you Todd! Very happy to be on your channel tomorrow!!

Thanks for the presentation. Very good. I asked about future proofing since samsung said you can just update the smart external component and/or they have open slots for that future component so you don't have to worry about future proofing. :) I have a Samsung F8000 from 2013 so I was curious since they said it is just simple to replace the old component with the new component. :)

Was wondering if TV brands still do that or not.

Thanks for the details.

Thanks for watching TrippleJ!

Unfortunately, those external components aren't really a reality... you can certainly contact Samsung and ask if they're still supporting the F8000 in that capacity, but I'd imagine you're probably going to get a no. As Robert explained, upgrades are primarily through firmware these days. When it comes to hardware and processors, you need to look for a new model.

That's a shame from an environmental perspective. I like the idea of modular upgrades... and you definitely see that capability in the higher-end processors available on the market. But, TVs, not so much...

Thanks Todd.

Yeah, maybe in the future, we can get switchable components, better for the environment for sure!

Did some research via google and apparently Samsung stop selling the Samsung Evolution Kit in 2014. Nothing in 2015 thru 2017 and due to consumer complaints, produced one in 2018 but that was the last set. The kits were sold starting in 2012.. Too bad they stop this..

Really enjoyed the video

For a while I was considering an 8K but I'm starting to reconsider an OLED for my main TV

Thank you Jim!

You would LOVE any of the new 2022 OLED TVs.

Jim, the Sony 65" that won the flatpanel shootout is beautiful. You might need to buy one and then let us all know how amazing it is!

Todd

I'm old and need BIG TVs. My main is 75" Z9D. Can't go down to 65".

Been seriously considering the Z9K but after the Shootout, started thinking maybe an OLED. First time thinking OLED for the main room because of possible burn-in

I have a 55" LG E6 OLED in the bedroom

Perhaps waiting for the QOLED panels to get bigger might not be a bad idea. I'd say there's a good chance we'll see them on Sony's 75-inchers next year!
