EXCLUSIVE Walkthrough of the Largest Home Theater Expo in North America before it opens! CEDIA 2024

(September 5, 2024) CEDIA 2024 is upon us, and I'm boots on the ground a day before it opens for meetings with Klipsch and Onkyo, an invite-only media night with Trinnov, Perlisten, Barco, madVR, Kaleidescape, and Officina Acustica. Before the show officially started, I walked through a small portion of the floor to give you a sense of the enormity and scope of the expo and to let you see what was happening the night before everything started. It's not uncommon for some vendors to work late into the night before opening day, tho this year it looked like most were wrapped and resting on the early side!

We'll have lots of coverage from the show floor coming in the days and weeks ahead. I wish it could go live in real-time, but the reality is the days are long, and the time to edit and render videos is limited. So, please be patient and content is sure to come sooner than later!

It's awesome being able to see everything without all the crowds. Like you said, it looks like HT Disneyland!

Thanks Todd, always fascinating to see this even remotely.

Thank you! I'm going to try and soak in as much as I can. I feel like there will be too much for me to see it all.

I am seriously jealous of you right now... sooooo wish I was there. Kickin' myself right now. :gah:

No doubt, I would not be able to sleep at night thinking about it for sure.

Thanks for the pre-show tour! Maybe I could wrangle an invite some year, but honestly, your videos and interviews from the show floor are really, really good. I don’t feel like as a consumer I could get the kind of access to the products and industry insiders that you bring to the table. It‘s like watching a ballgame on TV. Being in the stands is a great experience, but there’s also a lot more of the game and game info/insight to be seen and heard on a telecast.
Anyway, as I’ve expressed before, I and I’m sure a great many others, appreciate the hard work you do to bring a great show experience to us at home.

Todd is molded like mud on a pig for what he does. He is the best of all of them doing it.

Thank you so much, J. That really means a lot. Makes my day!

Thank you, Sonnie. You know I’m my own worst critic, but you’re making me blush!

Well, well, well… look I had the honor of hanging with tonight! Our own @Mike Schramm and AV NIRVANA member @BennyS!!! We also had @Bright Side HT, @Brett Bjorkquist, and Matt Poes on hand.

Lots of AV NIRVANA family!

Benny is on site shooting for Michael Stevens. Mike (Pictured) was the big winner of Brett’s contest. DJ is at the show taking it all in. Brett is on the ground working - teaching and helping with StormAudio’s presence - and Matt is teaching and working in his acoustics designer roll.

Neat evening for Mike. This was his first taste of crazy high end home theater performance. Brett pulled some strings and got a few of us into StormAudio’s premier theater room… over $1MM in gear, including 12 of Ascendo’s new The28 infrasonic subwoofers ($360,000 alone)… after the expo closed for the day.

The noise floor went from loud (crowds and other demos) to whisper quiet. And we got to let’r rip.

Mike got to be around some of the industry’s big-time heavy hitters. I wish I’d had an hour to take him around and introduce him to a few of my favorites. Hopefully, he’ll get a chance to mingle tomorrow…

I hope it ultimately turns out to be an incredible experience for him. Like anything, the objects - the gear, etc - are fun. But what’s even better are the passionate people behind machine.

So many wonderful, intelligent people.

Anyhow, so great to meet Mike and Benny and share a unique home theater experience tonight.

Had such a great time meeting you and hanging out tonight Todd. Looking forward to tomorrow!

Thanks Todd
It was pleasure meeting you in person.

I had to go back and amend my post - I left a few details out. :-)

Anyhow, good times!

Wow! Now I am seriously beating myself up for not going... SHAME on me. That is so cool you guys met up and got to hang out some.

Can't wait to see some interviews.

What a tease you are with those two videos. :foottap:

Great stuff. I miss it already! I think the Perlistens were my favorite speakers there. I loved the Ascendo's, and granted this is completely subjective, but man those Perlistens are incredible!

My first CEDIA is a wrap.
I was blown away. What a great show.
My 2 favorite rooms at CEDIA was Alcon and Sound Room 4 (storm and ascendo)

Hey Mike
It was great meeting you also

Funny thing when I was taking photos of Alcon as they played a demo I thought it was just ok
But then they change a preset for me and MIcheal and all of a sudden those speakers came to life.
Alcon was right next to sound room 4

Man, I dropped the ball on that one. Having basically one day to explore was not enough to see everything!
