(October 16, 2024) What better way to kick the fall season into full gear than a killer giveaway? Over the next 4 weeks (October 16 through November 11), you can enter to win a Flexus Core 200 Soundbar ($499 MSRP) shipped directly by Klipsch! Launched in April this year, the Core 200 is positioned between the Core 100 and Core 300 in Klipsch’s Flexus soundbar range, co-developed with Onkyo under the "Powered by Onkyo" banner. It’s sizeable, standing at 44" wide, and delivers 3.1.2 channels of output utilizing four 2.25" aluminum drivers, two 2.25" upfiring immersive drivers for Atmos effects, and dual 4" woofers for low-end content. It also boasts a dedicated horn-loaded tweeter for enhanced vocal clarity and carries HDMI eARC, 8K video passthrough, Bluetooth, and optical and USB-C connectivity.

This beauty is pretty much equipped to handle all of your soundbar needs.

It’s also expandable because it pairs with Klipsch's standalone wireless speakers. You can choose from the SURR 100 and Atmos-capable SURR 200 surrounds and Sub 100 or 200 for an even more immersive setup. Plus, with the Klipsch Connect Plus app, you get one-tap access to input selection, EQ presets, firmware updates, and more.

Thank you Todd and everyone at AVNirvana!
What a great giveaway! I have a TV that can use this thing. My wife prefers the look of the family room without the speakers on either side of it, so I moved ‘em out a couple months ago. To tell you the truth, I have to agree with her.

:hail: :woohoo:

Congrats!

Oh, WAIT... WAIT!!! We need a do-over, Todd... I forgot to enter. :olddude:

As I mentioned in my last post, my wife prefers the look of the family room without speakers on either side of the TV so I was really happy when my number came up in this give away.

There was apparently a little snafu getting it shipped to me. I reached out to @Todd Anderson for the 1st time last weekend and it arrived just 5 days later in time for Super Bowl Sunday. Thanks Todd! That was awesome!

So here’s a short mini review of what I think so far…

The Klipsch Flexus Core 200 soundbar arrived well-protected, thanks to its double-boxed packaging, ensuring no damage upon arrival.

This is the before shot of the Hisense U8H 55” TV in our family room.

(a little messy with the subwoofer pulled out to start plugging things up when I took this.)

And after adding the Flexus

It’s a perfect fit!
There’s also included mounting brackets for those with a wall mounted set.

Connection was made with the included approximately 4ft long HDMI cable to the Hisense HDMI ARC port. This allowed for easy control of volume through a Roku, ensuring a smooth one remote user experience.

As an aside, all the TVs in the house are connected and controlled with Roku remotes. This keeps things super simple and has virtually ended my role as TV Support Specialist.

The initial setup through the app is straightforward, leveraging Bluetooth for connectivity. The Flexus was instantly found and the process seamless.

The connected subwoofer was detected

As was lack of surround speakers

While the set-up of the device was quick and painless, unfortunately, controlling the soundbar with the app can be frustratingly slow or even non-functional at times, which is really disappointing for a product released to consumers from a company with the experience of Klipsch.

The app will show the available buttons, but until there is some communication with the device, it will just sit there. In some cases it will connect in a couple of minutes and in others I’m not sure it would have.
When there’s a connection the buttons appear as a slightly darker color, but it really hard to tell. Poor design imho.

Non-responsive state

And in this case responsive state 1 minute later.

Oh, and the cycle can repeat when exiting any of the sub menus shown on the buttons.

I can’t help but think using Bluetooth for the setup and then handing off to wireless network would have been a better approach.

So, that’s my biggest complaint and for me it’s largely a non-concern because the included remote control has all same functionality save for one inconsequential thing. And it works flawlessly! The remote, that is.

IMG_4695.jpeg

What doesn’t it do? It controls bass and midrange dialog, but not the treble.

Also, it should be noted that despite any issues with the Bluetooth remote app, streaming music to the Flexus from our iPads and iPhones works flawlessly! It’s nice to have some music back in this room which is also open to the kitchen in our home.

I think it might be beneficial if the soundbar included settings for lip sync, subwoofer crossover, and subwoofer on/off to enhance user customization. There are also no delay settings on the app which would be useful for subwoofer integration and of course surround speakers if added. Although it’s possible this functionality would appear if surround speakers were detected. Anyone planning on using them will want to check first.

The soundbar features the Klipsch Ebony veneer on top, which aligns with the Klipsch aesthetic. However, its reflective nature might be a concern based on its placement in your setup.

The front display is large and convenient, cleverly hidden behind fabric, and it features an auto-off function for added convenience.

IMG_4694.jpeg

All in all it’s a nice aesthetic and looks good in the room.

And finally there’s the number one reason for having a sound bar and that’s improving the sound. I’d say in terms of sound quality, the Klipsch Flexus Core 200 surpasses the audio output of most TVs, including my Hisense model which, for a TV, actually has ok sound. This soundbar provides improved audio clarity and can achieve higher volume levels with or without the subwoofer, making it a worthy addition to any home entertainment setup where space, budget, or aesthetic concerns for a traditional home theater set-up are in play.

When I have another minute I’ll beak out REW to see how it measures in my room and post.

Thanks again Todd and AVNirvana! We are going to get a lot of use and enjoyment from this!

It looks good and helps improve the overall appearance by filling in the gap beneath the TV.

It's a bummer that the Bluetooth doesn't work that well, but at least the regular remote works, and the unit improves your listening experience.

Thanks! I thought so, too. That TV is doing a good job hiding the fireplace behind it.

I expect they’ll get that sorted out at some point. I’ve since checked some other on line reviews and seems to be a common theme. Apple App store has a 2.4 rating for it.

For listening to music on it via Bluetooth from your phone it works perfectly. I’ll go back and edit that in.
