I have a typical 2 channel stereo system with Preamp, amps, turntable, tonearm, phono cartridge and OPPO CD/DVD Player. I purchased the recommended UMIK Mic, and SPL Meter and I have a laptop with HDMI outputs. My preamp has XLR inputs and outputs. Can you explain how to connect everything?

Thanks,
Dan

Welcome to the Forum!

If your preamp has no HDMI input, your best bet is to use your laptop’s headphone jack. Get a 3.5mm to dual RCA splitter and connect the RCAs to an input on the preamp.

Wayne

Another alternative is if your Oppo can play digital files from usb storage or network then you can make the necessary files with REW’s signal generator, play them via the oppo and record the measurements with REW and the UMIK on the laptop.
