Hello all. I am Jay from Wisconsin and new here! I've been messing around in home audio/theater for a while. Not really anything too high-end. I've always looked for deals to fit my budget at the time and fit my wife's "It better not look or sound obnoxious" style (whatever that is!). I have a 5.1 system in my family room (Integra DTR 40.4, HTD speakers). In the basement I have a 7.1 system (Newcastle R-972, Fluance speakers, Epson 8700UB projector). The Newcastle lost all HDMI functions last summer and I'm trying to replace it. Wow has the AVR market dried up! I was waiting for the new Onkyo units to come out (in June?!?!) Not sure what to do now that these might not happen. Seperates might be an option if I can find a good value without upgrading my mid-grade speakers right now.

Hi Jay!

The Onkyo units are definitely happening... I was on a web call with Integra product managers on Thursday. I have a piece going live soon, but it looks like all but one Onkyo unit will beginning shipping mid to late July, with the remaining one (NR6100) shipping in October.

That means the RZ50, 5100, and 7100 are just about 1.5 months out.

Covid has crushed supply chains and shipping has become expensive and difficult to schedule... but it appears all 4 are still on schedule. So, if you can wait, it will be worth your while!

Yamaha also has its refreshed Aventage receivers hitting the market this summer. Three models, starting at $1,299.

What kind of budget are you working with and what are your must-have features?

Hallo Todd, thnx for the uniform. What about the European market. I would like to buy the rz50. Will Onkyo ships to Europe some day and if so, when?

Europe has its own distributor... you can find them here: https://www.aqipa.com/en/pioneer-onkyo

You might have some luck by contacting an authorized retailer directly. Unfortunately, I haven’t heard any mentions of ship dates for your region. I’d assume it will be summer time, too... but it’s hard to say for certain.

Thank you for the information Todd! That is great news on the Onkyo (I think!?) since I had my eye on possibly the RZ50. I use the system for movies (Fire TV Stick/Blu-ray) and music (Fire TV Stick/analog input) about 50/50. I am trying to keep the price around $1000. 7.1 channels at 100 watts minimum. I was hoping for a great calibration system since my room setup and speakers are OK, but far from perfect. Simulated Atmos would be nice, since running new wires is not an option right now, but could be done. A good app (or IP web page?) for setup and on-screen for control would be nice also since this will be in a closet. Other than that, something that sounds great! Any ideas? Thanks!
