Hope someone can help me with the correct setup to allow me to measure my speakers (5.2 setup)
I have a miniDSP 2x4HD for bass management and are happy with the results attained using REW and a Unik 1 mic
I would now like to check the other 5 channels and are having issues setting the correct settings
My setup -
Marantz AV7005 Receiver
Marantz MM7055 Amp
P.C running latest version of Windows 10 64 bit with Latest version of Java, Version 5.20 beta 61 of REW
And I use Jriver 27 to playback all my content.
The P.C has a Asus STX Essence 7.1 sound card with in connected via Coaxial and Analog.
They are currently both setup and working as expected. (I have Analog set as default)
The ASUS windows 10 drivers are installed along with ASIO4ALL
I have attached screen shots of how the Windows Sound Control Panel, Jriver and REW are configured
Can you please point me in the right direction with suitable instructions on the correct setup to complete sweeps on my 5 speakers separately.
I would like to apply Frequency corrections in Jrivers PEQ
Thanks in advance
P.S please note that I am a novice, this is all relatively new to me but I am keen to learn on the fly

Do you have an option in your Sound Control panel under Configure that allows you to choose 5.1 or 7.1?

I'm not on my REW computer, but it would be listed here...

41590

The next question would be is the soundcard surround capable?

Also... I use FlexASIO... which is much easier to setup in REW and get it working... a more simplified control panel.

Thanks for your reply Sonnie
Yes I do have that option in the sound control panel to set as 5.1
I have just run the test and all speakers are working (see attachment)

Soundcard is Asus Essence STX 11 with daughter board and is surround sound capable
I have a Coaxial output and Analog outputs both connected to my receiver. I switch via the receiver
Depending on what I am using. Coaxial for movies and Analog for Audio

In anticipation of your reply I,ll download FlexASIO and install it
Looking forward to your next instructions

Hopefully FlexASIO will fix it for you. Opening Preferences in REW and selecting the Flex Control Panel, select your soundcard and mic... load it... and you should be able to select the other speakers in your system then.

Yes, that has worked and I was able complete sweeps of each speaker and create filters
In order to test the response of the filters Jriver needs the WMD driver activated in the Windows sound control panel
That has given me another issue within REW ? or maybe its Jriver ?
The test sweeps with the filters activated are no different than the original sweeps (The filters are not being applied)

Unfortunately I'm not really familiar with JRiver.

For testing your filters, my guess is that you'll have to record a timed reference sweep in REW, then load it in JRiver, and then choose file playback in REW, select that timed file, start the sweep, it will wait on you to go to JRiver and play the file. This is somewhere in the REW Help files.

Hi There,
REW software is awesome. Enjoying the experience learning how to use it.

I have managed to get a good setting for my 2 x SVS PB4000 and now want to EQ my mains and integrate them with the subs.
See attachment showing the settings that I used to Eq the subs, I searched the internet and found these settings as recommended by the Home Theater Gamer

I have not been able to find a recommendation for EQ settings for my mains and would appreciate any advice or suggested settings.
All my source material is played back via a HTPC with a dedicated Asus Essence STX 7.1 sound card.

I have ASIO4ALL installed as well as FlexASIO 1.7a

Can you also advise when creating EQ’s should I have REW setup to use JAVA and take a sweep of all speakers together with the subs switched off in the MiniDSP 10x10 or should I be using Flex and take a sweep of all speakers separately and EQ each individually or pair them off and EQ (ie Fronts, Center and Rears)

I also understand that my receiver should be set to either 7.1 Channel (Analog connection) or all Channel Stereo mode (Digital Connection) to avoid the Receiver doing any processing ?
Looking forward to your reply so that I can move forward with turning
Thanks in Advance
Pidge
