I am thinking of getting 4 of the 2'x4' monster traps and place them behind the 6' couch... that will allow a 1' overlap on each side... I wonder if I should tip them a little away from the wall alternately... would that improve the absorption? I will probably make a "bench" for them to sit on as it will be over a long electric baseboard heater... the bench would deflect most of the heat and make a stand for them.I would look at something more like 244 or Monster Traps and use the Range Limiter. You're looking to get rid of the bass buildup you're sitting close to. The 242's just won't get low enough.. They'll do 1-2k easily all day long but think broader.
