HSU Research's ULS-15 MK2 Subwoofer Giveaway Entry Thread

AV NIRVANA is excited to announce a new Giveaway Promotion! This time we’ve partnered with HSU Research to deliver the gift of incredible chest pounding bass. Over the next four months, AV NIRVANA members can enter to win one of HSU’s high performance ULS-15 MK2 sealed subwoofers. And to spice things up, we’re offering members two ways to increase their entries to win, so be sure to read below!

HSU Research is one the industry’s most well-known Internet Direct brands, backed by decades of experience and loyal customers. The company’s subwoofers and speakers are designed to deliver first-class audio experiences while remaining friendly to the wallet. AV NIRVANA recently reviewed the company’s ULS-15 MK2 subwoofer and raved about its performance capabilities. The review sample (which was opened as a new product) is now up for grabs, ready and waiting to be delivered to the home of one lucky AV NIRVANA member. This is a fantastic opportunity to spice up your system by adding the raw subsonic power of a ULS-15 MK2.

The ULS-15 MK2 was first unveiled during 2016 and is HSU’s only sealed subwoofer design. It carries a 15-inch driver powered by a 600 Watt BASH amp (2000 Watts peak) that features convenient onboard tuning options. It’s overall size (19-in H x 18-in W x 19-1/2-in D with grill, feet, and amp) and weight (65-pounds), not only make it manageable but also room friendly. Our review found the ULS-15 MK2’s deep bass capabilities (20Hz – 200 Hz +/- 1 dB) and quick attack made it extraordinarily capable for both music and home theater duties. Make no mistake about it, this is a killer subwoofer!

I currently have the following: Denon x-4000, Mains: Chane A1.4s Front Height & Back Surrounds: 2 pairs for RSL C34E. I currently have an SVS PC-2000 which I really like a lot. However, I recently moved and not only has the performance suffered due to placement, I cannot add another sub of that height. I have been looking at the HSU ULS-15 MK2 as my nearfield sub. I have always heard great things about HSU subwoofers and am even considering the CCB-8s up front as funds permit.

Well, I am in the process of rebuilding my HT from the ground up. We moved into a much smaller space and I can no longer have a dedicated room for my HT. I like this sub as, even though we are talking about a good-sized driver, the overall size of the sub is quite manageable. Also, I feel that a good sub woofer is key to getting the beginnings of a true theater sound. Being able to feel the action while not succumbing to distorted loudness is a key. The HSU Research ULS-15 MK2 (from reading the review) seems to be a quality candidate for this. Therefore, I think this might be the piece that kicks me in the behind to get started on the proper setup for our home. Good luck everyone.

Well this sure would be a nice surprise!!

Hopefully hitting all the high points, but we just built a very small house, and I had to sacrifice any sort of “real” HT, but my awesome wife said if I could fit it in a tiny bedroom that could hold a blow-up mattress for guests, we were good. Soooo my 9’x12’ HT needs a sub!! (because feeling a movie is way way better). I’ve pretty much narrowed down to HSU, almost exclusively because of the reputation and sound science of the good Dr Hsu! edit: I’ve researched this stuff for hours and hours and hours - while a PB sub really has my interest piqued, losing out on ANY accuracy for the additional punch in the chest is sort of a “lose” for me. The ULS-15 mk2 taking it all the way down to 20hz (flat response!!) out of an 18” cube pretty much means I don’t have to sacrifice accuracy for punch in the belly any more :-) 1m SPL levels over 110 dB?!?! Seriously for under $800?? In my tiny room, not only will I have my belly beat up, I might lose a filling!

All is on hold, because like I mentioned, we just built a house.... and had a baby... and my wife left her job to work for herself...and my 16-year old truck.... hahah, while all true, it’s a wonderful life and this would just be a nice bonus.

FWIW, I’ve certainly considered the reputation and selling power of SVS & the downright value and performance of JTR, but HSU has stayed right out in front - sure would be awesome to win one!

Thanks for the chance and thanks for the welcome to the group (I’ve perused the forum forever but never joined until now)

I recently got into Home audio.I have a BIC F12, and I'm already wanting to upgrade. This sub would be a welcome addition. The fact that the sealed box is only a little bigger than my current box is perfect because space is at a premium.

The entire HSU line of subs and the CCB-8 speakers are all incredibly exciting. I am redoing my basement and I will be making it into a dedicated media room. Right now, I still have the college budget Polk Audio system, and looking into the HSU full systems. The bang for the buck factor alone is what initially got me hook on going this route. Other ID companies seem close and I'm sure some of the others like RSL, Tekton Design's Lore Theator, JTR (way out of my price range) or even SVS systems, etc... are amazing sounding (I've heard separates from most, but never whole systems) but the 8 inch coaxial drivers paired with matched specific subs from the same manufacture really appeals to me. I've read other reviews saying the yellow is a little much, but I LOVE IT! When they sound that good, a little attention draw isn't a bad thing. I would say that the biggest draw for me in regards to the ULS-15 MK2 is the phenomenal range out of a small footprint 18" cube. I just wish I had someone I know close to where I live that has one I could go listen too. I'm too new at this to know the right people. But the HSU Research CCB-8 systems have definitely made a secure spot at the top spot on a very short list for the new room and it will definitely have a HSU sub(or 2)!

I have Hsu Research and SVS on my short list for subwoofers (pair) to add to my system. I'm leaning heavy on a sealed sub for my listening tastes and the ULS 15 Mk 2 keeps coming to the top especially for the price and quality.

I would really like to have this sub in my system. It would really bring the low end to my meager setup. Thanks for offering this great contest!

What does one say about something that works and works well. I have one Hsu and have never looked back. Friends that care about these things and have similar sub-woofers by other manufacturers tell me that the Hsu seems to rock their world a bit better in both movies and music. The on thing they mention is the need for a second sub-woofer to even out my room a bit. I had set aside some funds before life set in. So I would love to win this Hsu sub.
My present VTF-3 Mk5HP does move a serious amount of air for movies and blends so well once properly set up, I cannot locate it in the room. This is even more important for music reproduction as, again, when properly set up and placed in the room works especially well and never over takes the sound out of my mains. I Love it and would highly recommend Hsu products.

I'm a fan of subwoofers in general and Hsu in particular - I met Dr. Hsu once at an audio event . . . . I have a 12-inch Polk sub that I like but I think the Hsu would work better in my (modest) system

I’m currently running a HT system geared toward Atmos surrround sound. When researching different subs throughout the course of several weeks I realized something about the Hsu subs. They offer incredible bang for the buck! After comparing with various companies, the Hsu ULS-15 mk2 offers performance that can match and often surpass that of similarly priced offerings. The Hsu 15” subs play incredibly low, sound incredibly tight, and look great! Love the ULS-15 for having all these traits!

What's not to like! HSU, 15 inches of displacemnt, black! They are known for their bass, and I want to hear it in my own theater!!!

My current two channel system..(2.1) hk3490, paradigm studio 60 v5, hsu uls-15mk2, toshiba laptop, jriver, behringer uca202 audio interface,
The hsu I have is in rose wood finish. I am upgrading this system. I have recently purchased another emotiva xpa2 gen2, and an audio technica turntable. Another sub would help even out response and give me and additional 6db of headroom. I could live with that and the standard finish. thanks for the contest and the chance to win an Hsu 15 Mk2.

i only have a two-channel system right now and it needs better bass - my Elac UB-5s only go down to 40, so these would make them sound even better. someday - a 5.1 system would be nice and the Hsu would also make a good foundation piece for it.

I have been researching various subwoofers to replace my svs sb-nsd. After much research I have zeroed in on Hsu. Great reviews, specs, and most important customer feedback. The size of sub would be perfect for my room. I would consider myself lucky to own one of these beasts!
