 I have a 5.1 system and umik 1. I have watched videos on how to take measurements and use EQ through rew. However I have only seen the EQ used with the minidsp2x4. Is it possible to use the EQ in Rew without a mini dsp?

REW just calculates the EQ filters. Some other device in the signal chain is needed to enter them into and use them. MiniDSP is the most popular for this. If you go to the EQ section of REW it lists many devices to generate filters for. Some AVRs and processors will also work with PEQ filters.

In another thread you suggest your AVR is a Onkyo TX-SR805, which has Audyssey MultEQ XT eight-point auto setup and room calibration system... I would guess that there is a way to manually set this room calibration system utilizing filters created with REW...

Thanks!! I thought that was the case. I'm new and just spent a lot on speakers and filled the living room. I was hoping I didn't have to buy a dsp. My wife but her foot down.

I have tried to use the manual function but its very limited. I'll have to wait for my wife's approval to buy a minidsp so I can import the rew eq file. Thanks for the help!!!!!!!

Just to be sure we are on the same page, are you wanting to EQ the sub(s) only or all speakers?

Just the sub. Fortunately I've got a decent response as is. But I have some 5db dips followed by some 5db peaks. That I'd like to flatten out. Thanks

What @JStewart said. I don’t have it that good even with EQ!

Wayne
