Kaleidescape Owners Thread

Sweet. I like this! Just bought 4 titles ;-)

I went a little crazy with the Black Friday sales.... :hide::T.

He may have found it the same way I did. It's on the landing page to promote the Spider-Man movies. It's Special Pricing when you buy two or more titles, and is only available on the webstore. Not sure if this offer extends beyond the Spider-Man series of films.

I see it... thanks!

I am now part of the family....now I am trying to learn how to "import script" files. Is there a How-To-Guide on importing peoples script files. Really wanting to do the "Marvel Script" import.

Congrats @hnupe3. You're going to love it!

To import scripts, I think (emphasis on think) you need to download the script file to your computer. Next step is to go to http://my-kaleidescape.local/scripts. From there, you should see a place to import the file from your computer.

The key is having ownership of the exact same media (resolution-wise) as what's used in the script.

Nice bump in warranty from K-scape!

Dear Kaleidescape Customer,
We have decided to extend the manufacturer’s warranty on all Strato/Terra products from three years to five years. This includes Strato, Strato S, Strato C, compact Terra, and Terra. (This warranty extension does not apply to the older Premiere line.)
Furthermore, if you have an out-of-warranty failure, we will sell you a like-for-like remanufactured replacement, if available, for 50% off, with two years warranty. Alternatively, at any time, you can trade in your Kaleidescape component for 25% off an upgraded product with full warranty.
Here are the details:
  • Terra (24, 40, 48, 72) drives are field replaceable, so if one fails, we send a replacement drive.
  • Strato, Strato S, and compact Terra drives are not field replaceable (that would have made those products physically bigger and more expensive), so if one fails, we send a replacement chassis.
  • Any Strato/Terra extended warranties already sold will be honored by extending the warranty a corresponding period beyond five years. Going forward, we will no longer sell extended warranties for Strato/Terra.
  • If you bought a Terra drive to replace one that failed during a period that would now be in warranty, the Terra chassis warranty will be extended by one year.
  • If you bought a remanufactured Strato or Terra chassis to replace one that failed during a period that would now be in warranty, that remanufactured chassis warranty will be extended by two years.
  • 50% off is for a remanufactured product (all parts evaluated and potentially replaced), with two-year warranty, replacing a like (same type, same storage, if available) product that fails out of warranty.
  • 25% is a trade-in credit for a new product with full five-year warranty. Upgrade from any Kaleidescape player to any Strato, any Kaleidescape server to any Terra (must return original component).
Please reach out to your Kaleidescape dealer or email sales@kaleidescape.com if you have any questions. If you would like help upgrading older Premiere components to newer products, please email upgrades@kaleidescape.com.
Thank you for being part of the Kaleidescape community.
Sincerely,

I like these bundles! Very cool.

Michael - have you built your own demo script?

Can anyone compare the Pirates K-scape version to the new Pirates 4k physical disc version? I have the new physical disc, but haven't opened it yet because it is getting slammed for terrible quality and full of DNR. I'm wondering if the k-s

It should be the same. K-scape receives the same mezzanine file from a studio that’s used to make a disc. The difference being, K-scape has its own proprietary encoding process, but unlike a disc manufacturer, the file size of the encode isn’t limited by disc requirements.

Unless the artifacts are due to greater compression of the mezzanine file, which I think is highly unlikely, then Both versions will probably look the same.

All of that said, we need to find someone that has both! :-)

American Underdog just dropped on K-scape! Good timing!

Spider-Man No Way Home is now available for download

Let's get this thread going again, last purchase for me was National Lampoon's Vacation 4K HDR, on sale for $14.99 and it looks really good!

I'm considering this avenue once again, as I understand you can now buy a Bluray player and get your own movies loaded at considerably less cost.

However, I'm a little confused about the size of the player and server. There are obviously two pieces of gear. The player appears to be compact, but can I get the 22TB server is a compact case as well?

Yes, you can connect a USB drive and catalog discs for Disc 2 Digital pricing - varies by title and studio.

8TB and 22TB Compact Terras are the small form factor with a single drive. 48TB and 88TB Terras are large form factor with 4 drives.

Join the club! It's still the best way to watch and buy movies!

I have the Strato C player and just added a 48TB Terra to the 6TB Compact Terra. Love it!

I recently crossed the 300 movie mark in my system. The sales they offer every week have been a great way to round out the collection, and saving so much on those makes it easier to pay a little extra on new releases when they're made available months ahead of the disc.

My last 10:

I'm not a huge movie buff, so I think 350 4K movies will be more than plenty enough for me with the 22TB compact server.

Yes, it's so much nicer now that it's easy to catalog your existing discs, It works with an external BD Player, they have a list of supported players. Some of the D2D deals are better than others, Disney, Fox and MGM being the worst for upgrade pricing, here's some of the ones on my list that I haven't upgraded yet.

you can have way more than 350 movies in 4k, you can delete ones to make more room for others and download them again anytime you want.

I have a handful or two of movies I'd like to watch again.

That is good to know on the storage. So once you purchase it, you can download it at will and watch, even if deleted to make more room for others. Cool.

In that case, I may just go with the 8TB version.

I said the same thing. Bought the 6TB. Less than two years later I bought the 48TB. ‍
