OK, I have an extremely tough question, what type of music do you like?

Why is that a tough question? I think it’s an easy question. :)

My written review covers that. But it’s a bit all over the place. I was listening to 90’s country this morning. 70’s rock this afternoon while hanging Christmas lights. Then Foo Fighters when I was sending out work emails. But I love 80’s pop, too. I think the only genre I don’t care for is classical. Otherwise, it’s open season.

Now if you want nostalgia for a brand THIS is nostalgia:

I have seen pictures of that before I believe. Crazy speaker. I dig stuff like that. While I wouldn’t likely use it for listening, I do just plain dig the look and nostalgic appeal of those kind of things. Kind of like the huge one-bazillion pound record player cabinet I have. Haven’t used it in five years. Speakers are rotted out because it’s ancient. But it’s just a neat piece of stereo furniture and I can’t bring myself to get rid of it.

But, I have observed that the majority of pushback I get from people on this particular review is all from guys who had them 30+ years ago and are nostalgic for them.

If they're older then possibly hearing loss has something to do with it then?

Maybe Klipsh is accounting for this intentionally?

Hey there Erin, where do you perform your measurements?

The video below is a demo of (a portion of) my measurement process. Easier to show than to try to type it up. :)

Yeah, but that breaks down to less than $1K a channel so not bad when you look at it on a per channel basis. They license/rebadge their amps from Bryston and Bryston offers a rebadged Storm processor.

true. Still, too rich for my blood.

See, that proves that the Klipsch motto of " Off Your Neighbors" must cause hearing damage from all that loud music.

Haha! Right!?

funny thing is my neighbor actually walked over and I got to give him a lesson on speaker response on and off-axis. :)

I like the fact they are upfront about this relationship. It’s interesting that the 16-channel Bryson SP4 is made in Canada, I’m assuming it’s based on the MK2 platform... might need to do a little investigating!

Bryston has not been clear about following the upgrade path Storm offers. Storm gets an exclusive 6 months after they upgrade something like an HDMI board or a bass management software from Dirac. Not a peep from Bryston on if or when it trickles down to their rebadged processor after the waiting period. They left their customers fairly upset after Storm upgraded the new Dirac features and they didn't promptly communicate when/if they would follow up. 8K? Good luck with that.

Both Bryston and Focal have 16-channel processors based on Storm's platforms... both are different, tho, size-wise. I wish I could share all of the nitty-gritty details, but I think it's safe to say that Bryston will likely see an upgrade card soon. The delay doesn't have anything to do with a trickle-down wait period. Should be able to discuss this more freely soon! :T

@Erin, I wish I could get my Klipsch K402 MEH speakers evaluated by you, but the costs would be enormous to ship a single speaker and crossover with a 200+ lb speaker that is 4' x 2' x2'.
