@Robert Zohn is the Reavon as good a player as the Magnetar, the top model of both?
It's just money.I'm 99% Kaleidescape, but I have a handful of titles that aren't available there, and my PLEX server has been downsized and only using AppleTV for playback, so not getting full Atmos or DTS through there.
I do like the fit and finish of the Panasonic player as well, but have been reading that their processing has been known to cause some edge case issues with other items in my signal path, so looking elsewhere. My Sony died, so I don't plan on going that route again. I honestly wish I'd just held onto my Oppo 205, but I didn't.
Which brings me to the Reavon...
Reavon and Magnetar are sister companies, and they just discontinued Reavon. Thanks Robert. Were there any performance issues with the Reavon? Have any stock you're offloading at fire sale prices?Reavon and Magnetar are sister companies, and they just discontinued Reavon. Magnetar is the new successor to the Reavon disc players.
Regarding any artifacts from all source devices I also prefer connecting high performance source devices connected directly to the TV or projector and then using eARC if is available to feed the audio to the receiver/processor. Also I do not think Panasonic's UB9000P1k has any processing issues.
Thank you Robert.I enjoy working with Magnetar and sorry to hear they have not responded to you! If you want to send me the email I'll pass it along to my favorite Magnetar contact and they will reply to you. I'm not sure what audio and video processors they use on the Reavon X100 and the X110, but I can find out if you want to know.
That appears to be quite a difference.Magnetar UDP900 vs. the UDP800:
- 2x better DACS , one for 2.0 and one for 7.1
- 1x better Xmos processor to manage the DACS.
- 2x Better Power supplies, one for the Analog part of the player and the other for the digital part.
- Better components for the Video and audio cards.
- Better separation and isolation of the components.
- 1x USB DAC in for computers.
Impressive... if it just didn't have the checkerboard front. I hope they will consider making one that looks normal.Magnetar UDP900 vs. the UDP800:
