MSO fist time user here. After reading and watching a few MSO video tutorials I decided to do my first MSO optimization project for 3 seats, 4 subs this weekend. I'm not so sure about my optimization option that I used specially the Max Boost and Max Total boost parameters. But all in all the optimization graph looks pretty good to me. My goal is to create a 10dB gradual rise house curve, 100Hz rise start, 30Hz rise end, and 5.7dB/Octave rise slope. So my question to the experienced MSO users is this, Do I need to do new raw measurements, sweep at 95dB SPL level as recommended by AndyC56 to achieve my 10dB target house curve? The sweeps for the attached optimization graphs were done at 80dB SPL.

Been a while since I used MSO. It was V1. Andy‘s documentation is like a masters class on subwoofer theory and the V2 additions are significant.

Anyway, to your question on remeasuring, Andy’s documentation suggests 85dB and his reasoning can be found on this page under measurement level too high:

Conversely, if the measurement level was too low and noise was interfering then the predicted response and actual response would show differences. Since yours match I’d say you’re good to go.

I ran a new optimization using the new Mult-Stage option and this is what I got. As you can see based on the results my seating position is not optimal but this is the best I can do in my room as far as room treatments, seating position and speaker placement go. I think these results are a good compromise for me since I'm the only one that cares about home theater sound in my home. The double graph is a comparison of my seat to seat variation latest MSO optimization vs current REW spatial averaged measurements at the MLP(6 measurements, between 6-8 inches from each other. Comments welcome.

I think this may be a universal truth for our hobby. :)

MSO is calibrated to a flat response. You can use a house curve in MSO to get a bass rise of your choosing. I suspect you know this already.

I haven’t used MSO v2 as I’ve said, but I think the little bit of difference between the seats is a good trade-off of the multi-stage option. Especially in light of universal truth above. I’d rather keep some headroom than be perfectly matching everywhere.

I see subs 3&4 have 16 and 20msec delays applied. Just curious what the real distances are to MLP vs subs 1&2.

How does it sound?

Real distance of subs 3&4 from the MLP(Center seat) is 6ft and Subs 1&2 are 13ft. Sounds pretty awesome!
