(October 5, 2021) NAD is topping off a blistering month of new reveals with a product launch designed to satisfy the company's "just add speakers" category. This time, NAD is attacking streaming with an affordable power-packed design slotted as an alternative to its more expensive Masters Series M10 Streaming Amp.

Dressed with eye-catching design elements, like a solid aluminum body, and endowed with a compact form factor, the C 700 BluOS Streaming Amplifier possesses an efficient UcD amplifier capable of delivering 80 watts per channel (2 channels) and 120 wpc of instantaneous power. And if potent low-end output is desired, owners can tap a subwoofer output with user-controlled low and high-pass crossover settings accessed via the BluOS app.

The C 700's front side features a glass front panel covering a stunning 5" full-color high-def display to showcase album art, playback progress, source, and system settings. Moving around back, two pairs of RCA inputs and coaxial, optical, and HDMI digital inputs allow for the connection of disc players, gaming consoles, media adapters, televisions, and more. In fact, the HDMI port provides access to Enhanced Audio Return Channel (eARC) when paired with a compatible TV.

Wirelessly speaking, the C 700 supports AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, and TIDAL Connect, along with BluOS multi-room streaming in up to 63 zones. it also supports two-way aptX HD Bluetooth connectivity for use with headphones and smart devices.

Voice control via Amazon Alexa, Apple Siri, and Google Assistant top-off an impressive package crafted to deliver a Hi-Res Audio experience (up to 24-bit/192kHz). Priced at $1,499, the C 700 BluOS Streaming Amplifier is expected to ship in late October.

No Dirac Live = no sale, for me at least. It's too bad, but I understand that if this included Dirac it would be functionally almost identical to the M10.

Does BluOS mean it is automatically Roon-ready?

I'm sure Dirac's absence is one of the reasons the price point is able to be so much lower than its elder sibling... the license for Dirac isn't cheap.

Roon isn't specifically highlighted in press materials, but the M10 is Roon Ready. I can't imagine a reason why this won't be Rood Ready either.

Maybe NAD could provide an option where MQA is deleted and Dirac Live is added at the same price point? The C700 also only provides a single subwoofer out. Not having the ability to provide two independent subwoofer outputs seems like a major omission. Eye-catching design elements aside, a lack of simple audio features is a bit of a worry. Makes plugging this amplifier into a 2.2 system a bit difficult!

Dirac might add a few hundred to the total cost...
