Negatron ii HT

This is my current setup in Mexico
Sounds expensive for sure. :gulp:

I've been using Tailscale for a while now... mostly for camera network, but it's good for our NAS as well.

That's what I use it for. Don't need it locally, just when I'm out on the road and using Roon ARC. It was a bit complicated for me to set up. :dontknow:

Strange... I just got the account and it appeared in Roon. I hit the button in Roon to log on and it connected. I then just installed ARC and it worked.
Were you doing port forwarding prior to tailscale?

I still use port forwarding with the port set in Roon for ARC. Are you saying Tailscale is showing up in your Roon settings? If so, maybe I'm missing it. You have a screenshot?

I have Tailscale on my phone, but it protects any of my Internet connections to home for anything at home I have set up on Tailscale.

For home, I had to use a subnet router, like my Apple TV 4K.

I got it now... and I apparently missed it and was doing it the hard way.

Exactly! Whenever I find a easy way to do something and someone says it was not easy... I try to let them know how I did it , because I sure appreciate help too. You know pass it forward. Life is a learning progress and as we get older...we need more help (or at least I do). Lol

lol... Tell me about it. Thank you! I likely would have never known about it had you not triggered me to look. :T

It is certainly easier. I followed a different set of instructions, and it took a minute to get it working through the subnet. This took 10 seconds, long enough to log in to Tailscale from the Nucleus One interface. I'm not sure how I missed that initially. I don't think I was using Tailscale when I first got it, and maybe that's why I didn't know to look for it.

Do you rip your movies to your NAS too...if so setup tailscale on it and you can view your movies on vacation too.

I have not ripped any of our movies—most of the ones I like I have purchased on Kaleidescape.

I had Tailscale on the NAS initially, but then I realized the only time I access it away from home is via Roon ARC, which is protected.

I tried Plex Music and Symfonium, but neither made sense, considering I have a lifetime subscription to Roon, and it catalogs all of our music.

We can start one of our Roon playlists in my truck or our Jeep when we hit the road, and it plays everywhere we go. The next time we get in either vehicle, it automatically picks up from where we left off unless we change it.

Just swapped out the Emminence woofers with a matching pair of Celestion 15ftr3070c woofers...really liking the sound. I used a XLR Y cable to use one in the crossover and send to 2 identical for v3 monoblocks i then took my old Icepower 50asx2 btl amps for the comp driver (just for now...planning on getting a new small monoblock for the comp drivers.).

When I retune I want to see how the 2 pairs of 15s work together. I also am thinking of crossing over @100hz, so I can use the peak range of the Celestions and the F20s can handle it from there. I scrolled over on my REW screen and saw that the f20 was down 15db @2Hz vs the 20hz level. I then went and checked my crossover and saw I had not set the 20hz crossover.

Today a friend of mine came over to finally listen to my current setup ( he heard it back when I had a single pair of k402 MEHs, but due to my delays on getting everything together and retuning...I did not have him come over). My friend has a real nice McIntosh setup with some very nice and expensive bookshelf speakers and a sub. Everything in his setup is out of my range to buy.

We started out listening to some of my selections (which IMO really show of my setup), and then we went through the SACDs he brought for demoing and also some Tidal selections he liked. One thing I noticed is something I did not have a an issue with with my Negatron Theater setup, and that was a few tracks were not impressive at all. When I had my old Classe Audio, Mitchell Gyrodec and ML Sequels I had the same issue.

So this tells me it is most likely tunable to resolve. Problems were on some tracks...the bottom end had no slam, and on other setups the same tracks have the slam, but on some tracks that sound good on other systems...sounded very good and had all the slam and bottom end you could want. One track was the Dire Straits track "Man across the river" which in the past I had bass that you could really feel, but now I do not have that, but on other tracks I have it all.

Soundstage is nice and wide and instruments and vocals are precisely where they should be with dead silence between instruments other than decay and ambience (mostly in the recording...although some ambience is still due to the large room). My friend also commented that on some tracks my setup sounded like I had tube amp..instead of Fosi v3 monoblocks and Icepower amps.

For the about $9000 (horns and f20, for a pair as seen)...that I have invested in building this pair of speaker.. I am very happy. Def the most I have ever spent on a pair of speakers, but to replace at current prices, it would be around $20k!

How does your response look when you measure with REW at your main listening position?

This is why I have Digital Room Correction using Convolution + FIR filters to have my "standard" room as a flat line from +3db at 20Hz to -3db at 20kHz... Basically a Brüel & Kjær room curve... And this "standard DRC does not change... Then I add an additional Old-Skool EQ emulation to add tone and color to taste on-the-fly given the music I am playing at the time...
