REW test variations

That's it! Meters are higher now. Will post some new results.

Okay, the system switched over to the Mains (Focal Sopra 3s) Here is file. This is before any room treatments coming. Any comments if we are now doing it right?

Also, we have our actual test speaker hooked to "Center Channel" How do we get output to just Center Channel now?

Measurement looks fine. Is there an output device entry for the "SONY TV" output that starts EXCL? If so that will be a WASAPI exclusive driver option which should allow access to as many channels as that HDMI connection supports. If it is only stereo you may need to connect directly to a rear panel HDMI input on the receiver, if you are not already doing that.

We were able to pick C channel with "EXCL SONY. But no sound on C or L&R. Switched back to SONY without EXCL and there is sound

No luck with Center Channel. We can see all 7.1 choices when we switch to EXCL SONY, but no sound works. We switch back to SONY without EXCL and L and R works, but no Center choice.

The driver is Java, although we downloaded ASIO4ALL and see ASIO as a choice there. But that doesn't seem to work either.

Not sure exactly what to do. Do I download FlexASIO? Will it then show up in the driver window?

FlexASIO is an ASIO wrapper, like ASIO4All. If you install it and select the ASIO driver option in REW it will appear as one of the options, after selecting it you can click on the ASIO control panel button to bring up a dialog where you can select the input and output. Try selecting Windows DirectSound and a 1024 buffer size on that dialog.

Look forward to doing this tonight. I cannot thank you enough getting us back on track. That Windows Enhanced microphone thing had to be solved and I'm not sure we would have ever found it.

Okay, stuck again. When I click on the FlexASIO-1.9.exe file and open it, I do not see that it is doing anything.

Got FlexASIO installed. (Computer was protecting so I said "run anyway") Now in REW I choose ASIO and then to the right on ASIO device I can choose FlexASIO. But now I am stuck again.

Getting so close but still stuck.
Recap on where we are:
Java:
Choosing SONY... for output: L is left, R is Right, L&R is Left, Right, AND Center
Choosing EXCEL SONY... for output: Can see L,R,C,LFE,SR,SL,RR,RL, but no sound

ASIO:
ASIO4ALL: no sound
FlexASIO: no sound

Also check the receiver mode settings, there is often a specific mode to use for linear PCM over HDMI.

I am unsure which combinations of driver selection, output device etc will result in the output list containing more channels than Left Right and L+R. Any combination of settings that do result in having more than those 3 choices, all of the extra choices do not produce sound such as center channel.

all of the extra choices do not produce sound
That suggests the receiver is ignoring them rather than they are not being generated, hence the comment on receiver mode. It is worth trying DirectSound instead of WASAPI, since that is at least different to EXCL (which is WASAPI exclusive), but if there is still no sound the problem may lie elsewhere.

I seem to have found a combination the does allow me to produce sound through 8 output channels. I have listed them below. Does his seem like a proper configuration?

Preferences:

Driver - ASIO
Device - FlexASIO
Samp Rt - 48 kHz

FlexASIO Control Panel:

Driver Type - MME
Input - Microphone (UMIK-1)
Buffer - 1024
Output - RX-A3060 (HD Audio Driver for D

HDMI -> Yamaha RX-A3060 amp
HDMI disconnected betweeen amp and sony tv
