Our last UMIK-2 contest identified @Mike-48 as the big winner. If you read the winner's announcement, then you'll remember we revealed several ways to win free entries into this, our second UMIK-2 contest. To refresh your memory, AV NIRVANA members with 100 posts and 1000 posts, are going to get a boost to three and four automatic entries, respectively. And for those of you that are new, we'll award you two automatic entries IF you have 30 posts by the end of the contest (no post padding!). Also, we asked a trivia question (What movie was the first movie to be entered into AV NIRVANA's Time Crushed Hall of Fame?). @JBrax was the first to answer correctly, and he was awarded an additional FREE entry in this contest.
Billed as a “substantial upgrade in performance and functionality,” miniDSP says its all-new UMIK-2 microphone ($195) offers the same ease of use as its legendary UMIK-1, but with more bells and whistles. Much like the UMIK-1, each UMIK-2 ships with a two-meter long USB Type C connection cable, an individual calibration file to ensure measurement accuracy, and full compatibility with Room EQ Wizard (REW) and Dirac Live Version 3 or later. Measurement capabilities are enhanced by a larger 1/2” microphone capsule and 32-bit analog-to-digital converter, which combine for lower noise and lower distortion. Additionally, sample rates are selectable from 44.1kHz to 192kHz.
The UMIK-2 doesn’t require a driver with macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS. However, Windows users are supplied an ASIO driver for easy integration with most measurement and recording applications.

For this contest only, any member with 30 posts by the end of the contest will receive TWO automatic entries, members with 100 posts will receive THREE automatic entries, while any member with 1,000 posts will receive FOUR automatic entries! Here’s the fine print:
- All entrants must be AV NIRVANA members (100% free and easy to join, including Facebook login) and live within the Continental United States (Lower 48).
- If you live outside of the United States, you can still win but must supply AV NIRVANA with a US-based mail forwarding service. The winner is responsible for any fees associated with international shipping from the forwarding service.
- All previous Giveaway winners are free to enter.
- The contest runs from June 4, 2021, through July 23, 2021 (9:00AM EST).
- ONE winner will be selected at random and announced in this thread.
- Contest winners will receive a new, unopened miniDSP UMIK-2 microphone.
- Any member with 30 posts will have TWO automatic entries, members with 100 posts will have THREE automatic entries, while any member with 1,000 posts will receive FOUR automatic entries!
- Winners will have 3 days to respond to a winner's notification. If AV NIRVANA does not receive a response, the drawing will be run again.
- International winners must supply a US-based mail forwarding service address within one week of winning, or we'll redraw the contest and select a new winner.
