I had purchased a pair of PSB Century 1000i speakers but I had to take the sub as well because it was a package deal. The sub is an OLD PSB Subsonic II with a 12" driver in a dual ported box. I turned it on and it hummed like Gomer Pile on meth. I took it to my technician and he replaced a few bad capacitors. Its now quiet and works really well, good enough to give it to my son-inlaw.

"it hummed like Gomer Pile on meth"

I literally laughed out loud, that was a good one!

Same here... that was a really good one that I'll have to remember.

Great save 3dB.

We live in such a disposable world. You're a rarity. Most people would have shipped that puppy straight to the dump.

I took it to the technician and and he replaced a few caps and its dead silent now. Although the specs are nothing to write home about, it does punch pretty good and is good enough for music as well.

Caps can introduce all sorts of crackles and buzzes as they age.
