Hey there! First time using REW. I connected my laptop to a Wiim Ultra via the laptop 3.5mm headphone output to the Ultras RCA line-in. Tested playing music from the laptop and it worked just fine. Plugged in my UMIK-1, started REW and loaded the mics cal file. Checked and adjusted the sound level and then did a sweep.
There was a lot of static and REW complained about the distortion levels. And now I'm stuck, can't get rid of the static when doing sweeps. The output bitrate is same as UMIK. I went into Windows sound setting and disabled the improved sound setting on headphone out. Then I noticed, in the Windows sound settings for headphones where you select bitrate and play a test sound, that test sound had clipping and static as well. So by chance i lowered the output volume to about 80 and voilà - test sound sounded fine. It did not, however, fix the static when doing a sweep in REW.
I have read the help section and googled trying to find out what's wrong but like I said, I'm stuck. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
