The Umik-1 is capturing much lower level then what's being used. With a semi pro SPL meter I'm reading well above 85 dB and it's certainly sounds very loud! But the Umik 1 reads the level to around 65 dB.
And there's seems to be no way to calibrate the level with this mic.

Suggestions?

I've always used a sound card and a mic from Earthworks or Dayton, but bought the Umik-1 for a client.

What's the mic serial number? Are you using the WASAPI exclusive drivers (the device name for UMIK that starts EXCL)?

Serial numer: 714-7085
WASAPI? I'm only seing the option of Java in REW with the mic. I assume that means there's a driver I haven't installed...

I remember now that I didn't find a driver under download for the UMIK-1.

No driver to load. In the REW input device entries pick the one for UMIK that starts "EXCL" if it isn't already selected. Then in the Windows audio properties for the UMIK set the input volume to 100% and see how the reading looks after that.

Windows volume for the unit was set to 53. Seems to be correct when setting it at 100 dB. However, it doesn't stay at 100 dB. When leaving the sound properties window, it goes back to 53.

Setting the window control to 100% when REW was closed solved it.
