Hello, In 2015 I purchased a calibrated UMIK-1 from Cross Spectrum Labs. So, that's 9 years ago. I haven't been rough on it, always put away when not using. The mini-USB connection at the mic was a little flaky at times, but recently seems to stay connected.
I was thinking about getting a new mic and thought about the newer UMIK-2, but I see Cross Spectrum currently doesn't have any and they are unsure when or if they will.
What are my options for purchasing a UMIK-2? (is the basic calibration good?), or should I just stick with my UMIK-1?

UMIK-2 is NOT a 'better' UMIK-1. It has a larger mic, and that has implications (that I don't remember).

Umik-1 has ADC 24 bit 48 kHz, no ASIO driver. Umik-2 has ADC 32 bit 44.1-192 kHz, driver ASIO.

Thanks for the information. Where can I purchase a new UMIK-2 with decent calibration?
Maybe right from miniDSP

MiniDSP states cal files they provide are unique for the mic.

These guys are top of the list in @sm52 ’s link and have umik 2 in stock. They are also a forum member.

Thanks, placed an order at Deer Creek

@Tom899 I would love to hear your experience now that you will have both UMIK-1 and UMIK-2.

My understanding is that REW is better integrated with UMIK-1 and so is DIRAC if you ever need to use it. It is for these reasons 2 years ago I purchased UMIK-1 as I do plan to upgrade my AVR in the near future and I will be choosing an AVR with DIRAC support. So my reasons were mainly due to DIRAC supporting UMIK-1.

Yes, waiting for a new laptop to be built, two or three weeks

I read that for DLBC purposes, Umik-2 internal clock would do a great deal of differnce when optimizing a filter. Is it really worth it in comparison of Umik-1?
