Congrats to Alabama @Sonnie!

Sorry ‘bout Iowa State’s loss @Travis Ballstadt . But, there’s plenty of room for on the bench for you where I’ve been sitting since UK’s exit this year.
Ha! Yeah. It’s a bummer. I hadn’t watched much all season long, but what I saw, this team has a massive amount of talent and could be a national champion if they were more consistent. Gotta play the full 40 minutes instead of 25 minutes per game.

When they annihilated Houston in the B12 tournament championship game, that’s what they can do when they play a full game.

“Put your foot on their balls and believe in it.” -Coach Wayne Hisler, Johnny Be Good

I haven't watched a game all year... not a big basketball fan here... never have cared for it. This is about the only time I even give it any attention, just because the playoffs make it somewhat more interesting.

They are best-record teams against two worst-record teams that have surprised many by making it as far as they have.

Sure is a long stretch between games after playing every couple of days to get to the final four.

The final looks to be a clash of the titans! This year I have no reason to get up early on Tuesday morning which is a very good thing with the game’s starting time! DVR will be working just in case. Tomorrow will be a long day of water and Florida sunshine.

Uconn and Purdue... the real deal teams... not even close on the two final four games. The Cinderella stories ended for Bama and NC State.

some news about Kentucky.

from yahoo,
John Calipari is leaving Kentucky after all.

Calipari is finalizing a five-year deal to become the next head coach at Arkansas, according to multiple reports on Sunday night. The deal, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel, is expected to be completed within the next 24 hours.

Uconn won against Purdue.

Final score 75 to 60

Back to back titles... congrats to Uconn.

Somehow as great a program as UConn is they always get lost in the discussion of the likes of Kentucky, Duke, and North Carolina, as well as a few others. It doesn't seem that they get the recognition due until the tournament starts.

These are the teams with the most NCAAA title wins:
  • UCLA — 11
  • Kentucky — 8
  • UConn — 6
  • North Carolina — 6
  • Duke — 5
  • Indiana — 5
  • Kansas — 4
  • Villanova — 3
  • Cincinnati — 2
  • Florida — 2
  • Louisville — 2
  • Michigan State — 2
  • NC State — 2
  • Oklahoma State — 2
  • San Francisco — 2
Now if we just look at these same teams for 2001 and beyond:
  • UConn — 4
  • North Carolina — 3
  • Duke — 3
  • Kansas — 2
  • Villanova — 3
  • Florida — 2
  • Kentucky — 1
I know I'm clearly overdue to start looking at things in a different light.

Source of data:

I'm an Arkansas fan, and everyone is excited, thinking Natties are on the way, but I'm skeptical. It seems like his best days are behind him.

As a UK fan I’d say your skepticism is warranted. The teams underperform for the talent they had. Yes, they were young, but it got frustrating watching them make the same sloppy mistakes at the end of the season as they made at the beginning. That said it could also be a lot of fun to watch some of the talent on display even if it didn’t hang the banners if could have or should have.

Yep, I'd be frustrated if I were a high-standard Kentucky fan. Sweet 16 should be the bare minimum. But I'm not that impressed with your new coach either. But there didn't seem to be a perfect fit on the market. For Ark, I hope the change revitalized Calipari and that he can bring in a great x/o guy and let him cheerlead and recruit.

The 4 years following Covid were abysmal.

I’m not impressed with his coaching record, for sure. Even so, I figure he‘s got 3 years to find success and I wish him, the players, and us fans, the best.
He'll have the resources and fan support. Kentucky is the premier basketball school in the country IMO. If you can't win there, it wasn't meant to be.
