All time favorite Movie Thread

Tripplej... Cinema Paradiso? I've gotta say, never heard of it, but I just read about it. Totally intrigued! Just bought it
Let me know your thoughts.

It is a classic. Saw it in high school and multiple times later.

Won many awards.

Lots of ideas of movies I need to rewatch or maybe even watch for the first time.

My all time favorite movie is Scott of the Antarctic. Beautiful Antarctic scenes. Fantastic musical score. Stoic English actors. A very moving and emotional movie.

My favorite movie of all time is, "The Right Stuff". When I first heard about the is movie I was all in. The first time I saw it was in one of the big theatre's in San Jose CA. When the the first image appeared on the screen, I had a big smile. I knew they had made a movie for me. The poetry of the narration flying through the clouds got me hocked. Three hours later I was still hooked. The movie could have been two films. The first being the story at Edwards Air Force Base about the test pilots which features Chuck Yeager. Also there were two future astronauts. The second movie would be the Mercury program with the original seven astronauts. Watching the movie I understand why they included both into one film. Without seeing the men who were test pilots we would not have understood the astronauts who were all test pilots. Also I love the line from Yeager to the other test pilots when they were complaining about how the Mercury 7 had not flown in space and were considered heroes, how many of you would be willing to sit on millions of tons of TNT on national TV. The Tom Wolfe original book is thick with a lot of chapters and could not be into a movie with all of what of them, but they were able to get the points across by condensing the separate stories for film. It is one of the best adaptations of a book I have ever seen on the screen. The movie was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture that year in 1983 but lost to "Terms of Endearment". I could go on and on.
Yes, ALAN!!!! I love it. I've watched this film dozens upon dozens of times. I first saw it as a kid on Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines. That was a first strike military installation with TONS of aircraft exercises. It was like an airshow every day.

The Right Stuff struck so many chords for me. The test pilots, the intensity of space training. The fear of the unknown.

It's an awesome movie from start to finish.

We had a copy on BetaMax. My brother and I watched it endlessly. It is definitely one of the greats of all time.

Yeah, but what about Iron Eagle? ;)

Haha.

Not even in the same hemisphere!

Never say die.

I can't pick 1. I would say Outlaw Josey Wales, or The Boondock Saints.

Hullo/Hello, Mr Parker.

My answer: Amarcord, a film by Federico Fellini - an Italian filmmaker.
Sorry, I'm old (70 years).

I remember that film when I was young, I'm Italian, I remember people saying it was good, but never watched

And if you want to go back further, how about The 10 Commandments, epic film, I remember watching it in my local small cinema, they only had 1 projector, and there were 10 reels, everytime one reel finished, they had to wind it back before adding the next one, it was a long film  :) https://search.app?link=https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0049833/&utm_campaign=aga&utm_source=agsadl1,sh/x/gs/m2/4
I forgot about The Ten Commandments... love that one. The color is something to behold. I own it and have watched it probably as many or more than any other I've seen.

The original Star Wars. The only movie ever released that I saw (21) times in the theater😁. I pretty sure it had a major impact on a whole lot of movies and shows since it's epic May '77 launch.

Wow, there are so many good ones, I would really have a hard time picking just one but I agree with @Lreid65 the original Star Wars, or if we can pick trilogies then the original Star Wars trilogy. But it would need to be the original Star Wars, not the SE, I hope we get this one in HD or UHD some day

Kong que, by Changwei Gu, 2005

How about The Godfather :T

Sorry, haven't heard of this before :(
Quite normal I would say. Not easy to know about the existence of this beautiful portrait of a simple family during the Chinese cultural revolution!

Shawshank Redemption, Return of the King, Forrest Gump, Saving Private Ryan and Star Wars 4 probably round out my top 5.
