Monolith HTP-1 16-Channel Processor

Not to steer us off-topic, but that Ting appliance looks pretty neat. I'll PM you about it.
I'll add that this system is also worth looking at. It's what I purchased a couple of years ago, and had it installed at the same time we added a whole-house generator:

Sense Energy Monitor

I saw it on This Old House, and they've since done an update.

It's got a lot of neat features, including the ability to download the data. I was able to use that to see if demand-based electricity would be more economical for us (rate varies by time of day). But you could also use it to track how much power your theater uses (surprisingly low for us) and how much it costs to use halogen can lights ($$$).

It can also be integrated with certain energy plugs to track specific device usage.

The drawback is that it requires professional installation, unless you're very comfortable working behind the electrical panel and at your own risk (I wasn't).

I'll have to check that out... and I've heard of this before, but just never checked it out.

The side discussion about power issues had me look at my Sense unit again. They've put out some beta features that users can access, and one of these is a power quality tracker. Right now it shows a 24 hour window. Here's an example from mine:

38057

It also shows you a 30 day summary, and you can export the data:

38058

Pretty cool new feature.

Sound and Vision just named the HTP-1 as their Top Pick of the Year:

This is across all categories, not just A/V processors. A pretty nice accomplishment for a small company (albeit with a great partner).

That's pretty remarkable indeed... and I would say deserving. They have done well with this unit.

3 weeks ago I set up an RMA with Monoprice to return my unit due to random reboots. Very shortly after it rebooted once and then nothing since.
Also in the couple of weeks it was reported by an owner that he’d been given a software revision by Monoprice to address the reboot problem.
If this post doesn’t jinx it, I’ll cancel the RMA after the weekend.

Crossing our fingers!

Crossing our fingers!

Thanks that worked! RMA officially cancelled.

I experienced the mysterious reboot just once since setting up the RMA on Dec 23. In the meantime, it appears that Monoprice has addressed the issue for myself and other owners with firmware rev 1.8.3.
@AustinJerry has also reported the reboot instances he was experiencing have stopped.

It can take months to for companies to address software bugs and fixes on AVRs.. Super happy that Monoprice was on this, over the holidays, in the middle of a global pandemic Impressive.

Yes, after implementing the very simple fix, my reboots have stopped. Of course, it has only been a week, but so far, so good.

Since I've updated I have not had any mysterious power-on events.

I don't see anything out there that matches the value of the HTP-1 right now, at least if you want/need 16 channels.

And pink soda's custom interface keeps improving as well.

100% agree... and that custom UI is incredibly accommodating to say the least. Monoprice should be paying him for that... amazing piece of work.

I really don't see how you could get anymore flexibility and functionality in a 16-channel processor.

Don't do it Todd. You'll never let it go after! :)
Based on what Todd just added to his rack, I think you’re likely incorrect.

Just saw where the HTP-1 is out of stock until December. No explanation, but no matter the reason the bumpy ride in 2021 continues...

My guess is it's due to the DACs... makes sense.

Automobile dealers are hurting because they can't get chips. The factory dealer car lots are super low on inventory right now... looks like they are all going out of business.

Now is NOT the time to buy a new vehicle... great time to sell though.

I have also seen prices going up in gemeral for Audio equipment...so I would not be surprised to see the HTP1 go up in price once they get a replacement DAC (assuming they cannot get the same DAC somehow).
