Negatron ii HT

This is my current setup in Mexico
Update: my new amp cases arrived today...the plan is to replace the top with plexi and then install my amps module (s).

In addition I decided how my surrounds will be. I am going to make a Pure Audio style speaker with 2 identical woofers from my main setup and use a EV DH1A compression driver in a clone 510 horn..similar to the one I posted...except the center horn will be plastic and the front baffles will all be 1" Mesquite.

Love the new amp cases... Lol... Your the only guy I know that will have horns for surrounds... That is just so cool... Hey, if Sonnie can have ML ESLs for surrounds you can certainly have horns... :justdontknow::T:hail:

Well I had spare parts since I purchased the new compression drivers...much easier (plus lighter, and smaller footprint... means better WAF) to alter my plans and whip together a OB speaker. Now I only need to make my mini MEH for the center channel and find someone who can design some crossovers and tell me what parts to buy. I can eliminate 6 amplifiers then and when the gAn amps come down in price I can upgrade.

I decided while I was waiting for my new compression drivers...to see how the subs would do with REWs autotune. I ended up with the left channel having 12 PEQs, and the right with zero! Now the left channel is about 5' from the side wall and the right channel is about in the center of the 40' wall. So far it sounds easily better than it did before, with the vocals on up being crystal clear without any listening fatigue at all. I need to see if I can find a house curve for when I install the new compression drivers next week.

The blue is the right channel with zero PEQs, and this is from the MLP..

~ +/-5dB That doesn't look too bad for just goofing around... :T

Try 75 to 80dB... Waiting to see what your new compression drivers can do... Clean, crisp and incisive...

2 of my new horns arrived...these will be be used for for my OB center and surrounds, and will use my EV DH1A compression drivers and the same Celestion woofers used in the MEHs. Picture shows 2 horns, with one sitting with a EV DH1A driver sitting in place.

A little progress update... my carpenter is almost done with the Mesquite on the k402 MEH horns. The Mesquite wood is for mounting the woofers to the horn and has been screwed and glued to the horns. I also had side panels added to increase the rigidity of the horn. I hope to bring them hope next week and finish putting them together, and then tuning them to the f20s. I am having a temporary stand made for them until we get the new compression drivers all wired up, so we can decide where to have grooves routed for each wire. I still need to have a amplifier box made for each f20, and the MEH woofer amp. Then we will have woofer cages made, compression driver covers, and a 5' wide Mesquite baffle to match the f20s. The last thing will most likely be done next year and it will be to paint the horns (not the Mesquite parts) with the charcoal metallic paint we used for the shelves.

Thursday we will install the horn and remove the old horn. I will post up pics when we have it up and running. It will be tuned by the weekend.

Today a friend came over and demoed my old setup and then helped me move the beasts into place...along with soldering and crimping the connections for a temporary banana jack for each axi2050.

Sitting back listening to them now. Hopefully before Monday I will have them returned for the axi2050 compression drivers.

Does anyone know how to make an EQ high shelf with a Xilica? I know it is done on the input DSP but how?

That looks crazy good...

Do you use the Xilica xp4080 console software? Seems there are EQ Types of PEQ / Lo-Shf / Hi-Shf / AP-1 / AP-2.. Hi-Shf is right there...
Another way would be with REW EQ Filter Panel... Not sure how that plays out with your Xillica though...

 In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida...

Page 29 of 210630054214_XIL003_UserManual_XP.pdf Quick Reference... About a 1/3rd of the way down, under Parameters is "EQ type" and the choices are PEQ / Lo-Shf / Hi-Shf / AP-1 / AP-2... Hi-Shf is what your looking to select...

Whoa!!!!! Those horns look super sweet! Congrats!

The weight... 150lbs?!?!?! Not something you'll be moving alot ;-)

150lbs is just for the top horn the bass horn is around 400lbs. I have them up and running and did some tuning...sounding good, but not fully tuned yet. My half sister is coming to visit on Monday (I have not seen her in over 20 years when she was a teenager), I hope to get some more tuning in Sunday, and then maybe sometime after she goes home (she is only coming for a few days).

I def am loving these new modded horns. I am pretty sure they will be my main speakers for a long long time.

New amp cases for the f20 horn plate amps have been temp assembled. I still need to finalize how I am going to attach the VU meter to the cf. All the front amps will be similar in that they will have a Mesquite or similar wood for a frame and CF front and rear and VU meters for each input. I am also thinking of getting 3 more VU meters and convert my earlier design small amps (Icepower 50asx2 btl amps) for my height channels. The amps will be the same except a VU meter and CF front plate.

.. I am thinking of maybe having a small square made with a recess for the back side of the VU meter, and then attach with 2 screws from the front.

Here is the front shot and the rear shot. I am using furniture pads for feet as the amp will be sitting on top of the f20 horn. The horn will be rotated to 5' tall and will be right next to the tv (for now), and the horns will be on he outside edge of the f20s. The f20s will be facing the rear wall.
