REW Beta Release REW API beta releases

Question: now with macOS Sequoia HDMI full passthrough (Atmos!) possibilities, do you have any plans to work on REW's ability to measure more than the bed layer?
I don't believe that has any effect on the linear PCM audio channels REW uses, it passes through the encoded content.

would it be possible to add sending measurement sweeps at the same time through L+LFE like already possible with L+R via HDMI?
You could do it with the ASIO drivers using the 2nd output option, though you would need to check that the LFE 10 dB level adjustment was properly applied when that option is selected in REW. I'm not sure how that would help with debugging bass management though, better measuring the AV processor's line outputs to check correct bass management routing of a signal sent on a main channel.

Using a Mac. Is it also there possible to use a second output option?

I‘m using some external bass management. Not that one of my Yamaha.

Builds updated today (beta 64) with these changes:

  • Added: Distortion graph controls show a button to embed FSAF residual WAV files into measurements for FSAF file measurements with a residual WAV
Hi John,
This doesn't appear to be working properly. I've just checked the few files I made using this process. The files contain 5 FSAF measurements, and the residual for the first FSAF measurements has been loaded into all 5 of them. I selected the "This and other loaded FSAF measurements" option when embedding to process the measurements in bulk.

Builds updated today (beta 65) with these changes:
  • Fixed: STI clipboard copy copied TI values instead of m values
  • Fixed: Embedding FSAF residual WAV files for all measurements embedded the residual for the first measurement in all the measurements
  • Fixed: Distortion overlay graphs could be rendered incorrectly if some traces were not selected in the legend

How can I generate a Dirac pulse with this new version of REW please?
In the old version I could do that by going into the EQ menu and generate it but in this version it no longer works
Thank you in advance

Hi John,
When completing a response copy, it appears that the entire measurement including impulse is duplicated as expected, however the distortion for the copied measurement is blank. Is there a possibility to retain the distortion chart for a copied measurement?

Probably easier to just copy the mdat, or save that measurement to an mdat if it is part of a multi-measurement set, then you get an identical copy.

Save measurement, then open measurement has been my workaround to duplicate it with everything included.

Hi John, minor bug report. In the latest beta 65, I am finding that the file selection for FSAF is often greyed out, so I have to select pink noise, then file again in order to enable the file selection.

I think steps to reproduce this is to have FSAF set to file stimulus, then run a sweep measurement. When selecting the FSAF measurement again, file stimulus will be selected, but the file and open button are greyed out.

Just updated post above with steps to reproduce this behaviour.

As a feature request, could there be a distortion view that shows the fundamental in SPL scale on left Y-axis, and normalized harmonics in dBr or % on the right Y-axis?

I figured it out. The time between impulses is the same.
In the alignment tool in phase alignment mode, the phase lines are shown in the same color. It would be better to display them in different colors. The original colors are different.

Another simple feature request. When you ctrl+right click for measurement metrics, REW shows a rise and run values, dB span vertical and Hz span horizontal. It would be great if REW would close the triangle and show slope as well, in dB/oct.
