It could, the AudioFormat properties map can hold anything (usually nothing). If the mask were available what should be done with it?
 
@phofman Thanks for the info, but I don't see why that means the provider shouldn't make available the channel mask that it actually used? REW can decide what to present in the UI if it's zero or otherwise crazy.

At minimum have the default Output Channel Mapping labels match the mask, so that (for example) the two different 7.1 configurations are properly distinguished.

At maximum, consider reworking the UI, eliminate the stereo special case, and let the user choose their desired channel and speaker configuration from the available supported options, so that one could choose between stereo, 2.1, 3.1, 5.1, 7.1, when some/all are supported.
