Good afternoon friends

I hope all is well. I never used to bake when my wife was alive. Now that I'm on my own, I thought I would take a crack at a Christmas tradition handed down to me by my parents who immigrated from Germany to Canada after WW2. Here's the receipe I used..

I had these soaking for 24 hours in an expensive Rum because I was too lazy to go out and buy a cheaper brand. Needless to say the fruit looked rather happy.

I'm waiting for an hour for it to rise one more time.

The recipe instructions were to drain the fruit before adding it to the dough and I could not imagine a better vessel to drain it in than a glass. Not wanting to waste good rum, I'll be nursing on this for the afternoon.

Thankfully I waited until the end to start nursing this drink or I would end up like this guy

Good morning and happy hump day

. I watched Top Gun Maverick on bluray last night and I read that it has killer bass on it. Well my subs werent' delivering it for some reason so I did some trouble shooting late last night and found the cause. I got the bass is back as it should be. Here's what I managed to listen to last night.

Listening to a new album dropped by "Fred again.. >" called Actual Life 3. It's a great mix of techno and ambient.

It's pretty awesome. Two thumbs up!

Today has been a big day as I announced to my manager's manager that I'm going to retire shortly in the new year. She was very happy for me. Here is last night's listening session;

Congrats on your retirement announcement!

Your "Happy Hump Day" comment reminds me of my last year and a half of work. The company announced a "Transition to Retirement" program that allowed you to work 3 days a week for the 18 months before you retired. It exactly fit my retirement plans, so I signed up for the program. In my mind Mondays were still "Start of another work week", Tuesdays became "Hump Day" and Wednesdays were "TGIW!"

Thanks! I retired in Jan 2014, something I looked forward to for a long time. I found the closer I got to retirement, the faster time went (and it's still flying by). Maybe it will be for you too and you'll be retired before you know it.
