Movie Roll Call: What have you seen lately?

Is it teen friendly?

Watched Underworld: Blood Wars and it was underwhelming to say the least. Rented the 4k UHD version and honestly the only reason I finished it was the sound. The Atmos soundtrack was excellent and that was pretty much the only enjoyable part of the movie.

The wife and I just finished La La Land. This is probably a movie I would have never picked up but my wife wanted to see it. Well, I tried to have an open mind and I'm glad I did. I was surprised just how much it drew me in to be honest. The chemistry between Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling was pretty remarkable. One of the better movies I've seen in the genre.

So you
Yes, as long as you're ok with mild violence. If there is such a thing?

In this day and age, it's impossible to shield your kids from anything. The internet and youtube have completely destroyed the innocence. :-/

I might need to watch it first...

So you're saying "there's hope?" I'm sure this will parade through my home soon enough.

First off I would have no problem letting my teenage daughters watch Split. The violent scenes are on par with what they could see on regular tv. No need to pre-screen unless you just want to watch it twice. Split was excellent and by far James McAvoy's best acting to date. I won't spoil it but let's just say he was superb in his roles…err role. As far as La La Land I say you go rent it and tell the wife you were thinking of her when picking out the movie. You'd then get to enjoy a top notch movie and get kudos from your significant other.

The Magnificent Seven and Silence: both were, okay for me but slightly disappointing.

:ponder:Passenger......interesting movie makes you think about those what if questions. You know, like do you kill a few to save a thousand.

Revisited The Martian (4K) last night and the second viewing was just as good as the first. The use of HDR in this is really incredible at times.

There you all are, can't believe I missed this thread before.

My most recently discovered recommendation:

The Hurt Locker

The Girl With all the Gifts. This movie fell short in many ways, to include the conclusion. It began as an interesting concept, then proceeded to be a B flick attempt at another zombie attack film.

Sugar Mountain. Based on a true story. Pretty messed up deal. The female character portrayed in the film I would definitely say has some psychological issues.

Sci-Fi Adventure Mayhem!
Has yet to win any awards, but does have a excellent sonics.
Much, much better than Oblivion, IMO.
Don't care for his real-life antics, but enjoy his acting.

So it's Saturday night. Finished all the chores, everybody just went to sleep and your all alone, grab your favorite beverage and snack...what are you watching.
Lately I've watched Prometheus and Sicario.
I can watch either one of these many times without hesitation. Especially since buying my new tv.

This is another I can watch multiple times.

The Dark Knight Rises seems to be the most watched in my collection. It just never seems to get old.

Watched Manchester by the Sea last night. Overrated attempt to be artful.

I can see where you're coming from but…there were some pretty powerful scenes in the movie. In particular the scene in which Randi attempts to console Lee when they run into each other. I was not a fan of the ending.

Ditched the home theater and took the fam to a local theater last night to see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. Great flick... I think I liked the first film better, but plenty of entertainment to be had in this latest release.

Gold...decent film. Based on a true story of a gold hunter and investors. Some pretty good acting.
Just finished this one. I give it a thumbs up. Crazy for sure. Very good acting.
