Movie Roll Call: What have you seen lately?

So did you like them?
Resident Evil (blu-ray) was as I expect, action all the way. I did feel that the soundtrack was quite lack luster.
Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk (4K), enjoyed it. Well done film, also appropriate for the time of year, memorial day. Soundtrack was good and picture quality.

Yeah, still haven't seen Billy Lynn but have read the video was shot at I believe 60 fps giving it a soap opera affect. I still need to check it out.

The Place Between the Pines...have watched this a few times, really enjoy this film. Well developed storyline. Good acting. Netflix. Would fall under drama with some light action.

Mini marathon for a holiday weekend!
Planet of the Apes (2001)
Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011)
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014)
I'm not yet used to such good sound from my multichannel rig. It seems everything I play has startle-factor and palpability! These movies were no exception.
Great sci-fi action with liberal doses of philosophy thrown in, I think they make for entertaining viewing on more than just one occasion!

"Why Him?"

Not a clean movie by any stretch, but as a father of two daughters, it definitely plays to the "fears in the back of your head." This movie is the 2016 version of Meet the Parents (which, I think is a far superior flick). Still... some very funny moments in Why Him?

Watched Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition. I've passed this up many times because of the negative to middling reviews and it really surprised me. I thought the story was good and for a three hour movie it didn't feel like it. Ready for Wonder Woman now.

Watched "The Great Wall"... great audio. Visuals are also pleasing (even on BD). Story is *meh*

Extraction. Audio is decent, not excellent. Picture quality is over saturated red in night time scenes and over saturated blue/green in day scenes. Film texture is grainy throughout most the film. LFE is pretty good on and off throughout film. Storyline is action. Nothing too deep or plot driven. Makes for a decent Saturday afternoon flick. Blu-ray.

Went and saw Beauty and the Beast with my wife the last day it was in theaters around here. Aweful. My wife really loved it, but it just seemed so forced and lacked all originality. I would watch the original animated version (which is actually decent) 50:1 for the new one. Emma Watson couldn't act starting in HP, and that theme continues with this thing. Her singing was bad too - my sister had primed me on the autotune, and I think that's what really started the movie off bad for me.

I haven't seen the play, but I'm assuming the movie was essentially ripped straight from it. It felt more like a stage production than a movie production. I don't know if that's what they were going for, but I sure didn't appreciate it.

I hope to never watch this one again, but I know this one's going to be a buy by my wife :gah:

Just watched Rogue One, can't decide if it's one of the best or one of the worst. I'll have to watch it a couple more times but I'm leaning toward one of the best at #2.

Saw again The Dark Knight. This movie has really great LFE moments. Had the room pounding specially with Audyssey DEQ engaged :)

We watched Fist Fight last night. Free rental but no. Just say no.

Desperate for something to wind-down the day, we loaded up Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit. Blech. What a disappointment. Must not have been in the mood for a spy thriller. Chris Pine was underwhelming, IMO. Might try again when in better frame of mind.

Did you watch the Extended Edition or the Theatrical Edition? I'm in the minority who enjoyed the Theatrical version when I saw it. Then when the extended edition came out on video and I watched it and loved it. Despite being longer, it flowed so much better to me.

I watched the extended (ultimate) edition and yes for a three hour movie it sure didn't feel like it. I'm a bit perplexed by all of the negative reviews. I've probably contemplated renting it a dozen times but always passed because of the reviews. I'm glad I watched it, can't always go solely on reviews.

I agree. Despite the negative reviews I did enjoy Batman v Superman.

I watched the extended version one.

I watched the extended version one.
That's the version I watched. From what I've read it's the better of the two. I wanted to watch it before Wonder Woman and I'm glad I did.

I can't wait to watch Wonder Woman. It looks really good and I sure do like Gal Gadot :)

Oh, don't get me started on Gal. Wonder Woman does look good and according to all of the reviews it is. Gal and I have a date at my local Dolby Cinema. :jump:

I am going to try and see it soon here. Let us know how your date went. I mean how you liked the movie lol. :fireworks1::fireworks2:

I will but I'm predicting bumbling words and sweaty palms. :hail:

When it was announced that Gal Gadot was going to play Wonder Woman I though it was a bad call. I was thinking Gina Carano or Morena Bacarrin or someone who isn't so thin. I was wrong, she was a scene stealer in Batman vs. Superman and I'm really looking forward to Wonder Woman.
