Movie Roll Call: What have you seen lately?

We just watched Contagion.

We watched Knives Out last night. It was entertaining.

We just watched Contagion.
Just watched it as well. Scary just how foretelling this movie is. Granted the death rate isn’t the same the breakdown in regards to society hits home.

Midway - movie was so-so. Low Frequency Effects were awsome!! Some of the CGI was poorly done too imo.

EDIT - I should add that I saw the original movie back when it came out in theaters and loved it!

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil

My wife and daughter enjoyed it very much. I thought that it was rather blah during a lot of the first half. The main reason I kept watching though was because it was visually awesome on my LG OLED! They did a great job mastering this one!

I would have thought that this thread would take off given the current situation. :scratchhead:

We watched Joker a few days ago. To be honest we were all expecting something completely different!

Last night we watched both Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

We have still been just adjusting to the new normal.

Last night we watched Uncut Gems. Couldn't wait for it to be over. It was 2+ hours of people yelling. Plot was just okay. I was surprised that it was as highly rated as it was. Checked the run time at one point when we were deciding on a bathroom break or ride it out. Couldn't BELIEVE it had only been going for an hour and fifteen minutes.

The other day we watched Newmanji. Sorry for the dad jokes. The New Jumanji. It was alright. We really enjoyed the reboot from a couple years ago, and this was an above average sequel. I could've done without the Rock's DeVito for most of the movie, but other than that, it was entertaining.

I watched Strange Brew yesterday morning. That movie is so incredibly stupid-funny. Take off, eh?

We watched The Naked Gun the other night. Inspired by a viral video of a mayor who forgot to turn off his wireless mic when he went to the restroom during a coronavirus city meeting. I miss Leslie Nielsen.

And the other night I watched Quantum of Solace. I'm a pretty big 007 fan. Daniel Craig really is the quintessential Bond, and I'll miss him after his final run.

Strange Brew!?!?! Been years since I saw that hoser!

Watched The Matrix with daughter #1... she’d never seen it. We both thoroughly enjoyed it. Great to see a classic stand up to the test of time so well!

The downer... I had purchased a used copy on 4K. Opened the case for the first time... NO DISK. Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!

Luckily, had a Blu-ray copy in the collection ;-)

Still, though

Watched Knives Out last night with my wife.

After finishing Tiger King on Netflix last night, we had to watch something a bit more uplifting - Big Hero 6.

Big Hero 6 is a favorite around here.

We’ve been watching Tiger King —-of COURSE that nuthin is an Iowa Hawkeye fan. ‍♂️

We watched Richard Jewell the other night. It was fine. That guy got a bad wrap, but I, for one, am really tired of Eastwood’s politics. This was a hack attempt at a hit piece, thinly wrapped in a drama package.

The guy who played Jewell was fantastic though, and I love Sam Rockwell.

Richard Jewell has been on my radar but I haven’t dropped the hammer on it yet. I suspect I will be soon given the current situation.

Watched 1917 last night. The cinematography and audio were top shelf and the storyline was excellent even though I was expecting something a bit different for some reason. I was expecting more war and less story going in and it was the opposite which was marvelous.

I had a similar impression of the film. But believe the film went a little too far with the lack of war scenes.

Going into it, I would agree. But after watching, I think it was perfect.

I’ve had 1917 sitting here since release and I’m dying to watch it, but the boss hasn’t been “in the right mood” for it yet.

I’m getting impatient and will likely social distance myself down to the theater alone if I have to this weekend.

Lol! That's where I was last night, no one wanted to watch it but I did so I self sequestered in the theater room and watched it. :T

I think tonight we're going to start Carnival Row.

Finally got everyone into the theater for 1917 and HOLY MOLY that was amazing! It was a unanimous favorite.

The cinematography was incredible, the story was great, and the sound design was amazing. Loved every aspect of it.

I’m not much of an extra guy but I enjoyed the extras showing how they shot it.
I haven't watched the extras but I guess I'll have to now.

We watched 1917 and Onward both in 4K/Atmos. 1917 was on another level for me personally. Spectacular in every sense. Just finished Onward as part of the “deal” and found it enjoyable.

We watched The Town last night. R had never seen it, and I didn't remember too much about it.

We both had the same reaction. It wasn't a wasted two hours, but I'll bet in 3 years neither of us will remember much about it.

I See You on Amazon Prime Video. Had never heard of it so had zero expectations. We both found it very enjoyable. Definitely worth checking out.
