Movie Roll Call: What have you seen lately?

Watched The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare over the weekend. Really fun movie, I will definitely rewatch it multiple times. The Atmos was a standout as well. In one scene the characters were on the lower deck of an old wooden boat having a conversation and you could hear the wood boards of the upper deck creeking in the ceiling speakers. Such a cool effect!

I thought this was a great flick as well. Totally rewatchable.... definitely great audio! Highly recommend!

Been watching some horror this week while my partner is out of town, since she hates it.

All on Kaleidescape:

• Watched Talk To Me again late last week, that's a great film.
• Watched A Quiet Place II, prepping to finally watch the newest installment.
• Watched the original Poltergeist. Still holds up, haven't seen it since cable in middle school. 4K transfer looks beautiful.
• Watched Alien: Romulus a couple nights ago. I'm not one who gets too attached to franchises, so as a standalone film I really enjoyed it, reference quality audio and video here.

May watch The Purge tonight, but I also kinda want to watch District 9.

Talk to Me is great!!! Love that film... I also watched Poltergeist this past week. Not in the theater, but on my phone while I worked out. Really enjoyed it. Amazing how well it carries the vibe all these years later

Well, as a super fan, which I know both you and I are... I gotta say, the Steel Book 4K is almost a must own. It's only $30 bucks!

Don't get me started on Steelbooks. I hated them when I still had to buy discs all the time. I just ordered this one only because it shipped faster.

Steelbooks are nothing but a cash grab.

"This group really likes movies. It's like we can't make enough movies for them to buy. How can we make them buy the same movies again and again?"

"How about a different case with different art?"

"Don't we need to remaster the movie or do something to the content? At the very least shouldn't we track down another trailer to include?"

"Nah, we have discs left from the last time we printed a run. Just use them again."

I'm not going to argue. But, collectors are collectors. For better or worse, they like stuff like that... they wait in the weeds for just one more item from a favorite franchise.

That's why they exist!

I can understand why collectors do it, but I have never bought two copies of the same movie just to have the steelbook. I have absolutely bought the steelbook of a movie because the steelbook looks cool, but never on a double dip. At the end of the day it ends up sitting on my shelf just like every other movie.

There is that little bit of extra art appeal.

There's gotta be something to it from a sales point of view. They keep making them, so collectors must be buying!

I don't care for the steelbooks myself but I'll get them if that's my only option. I really do like digibooks but they never seemed to catch on unfortunately

I just watched Captain Phillips on Kaliedescape 4K version. Been years since I have watched it, but it was really engaging and also a great transfer. Glad to add it to my content library.

The wife and I pulled a double header last night. Deadpool & Wolverine was first up and we found it quite enjoyable if you’re into the franchise. Fantastic a/v as well. Next up was Speak No Evil and oh boy was that an edge of your seat movie! James McAvoy absolutely nailed it in his role! Highly recommended!
