Movie Roll Call: What have you seen lately?

I was disappointed in this movie. I was expecting more of a monster movie, but it failed me. Ended up boring me. :dontknow:

I can understand that as that was my mindset at the start. Once I got my head around the fact that it wasn't about monsters, it turned out to be OK. That story perfectly fits the human refugee camps, mistreatment, suffering, and general outlook of humanity. Even the guy changing into an alien is a metaphor for people whose views don't fit the popular vote.

Last night, I watched the 2021 release of Dune in my basement system. All I can say is sweet Jeezus!!! The bass in that film pummeled me into the back of the sofa. I watched it on the main floor system when I first got it the bluray and the 3 x 12" PSB subs shook my recliner rocker. That's easier to do on the main floor because its a hardwood floor and bass loves to travel. In the basement on a concrete floor covered in carpet and sitting on a sofa long enough for a 6 foot person to sleep on is a totally different beast. Those two 12" Rythmik subs vibrated me in that sofa a few times. By the time my g/f and I chatted and the movie ended, it was 12:45 so I got no more music listening in.

I recently started watching the new Dune: Prophecy series on HBO:MAX. So far it's VERY good!

I'd like to see it, but I will wait until the season ends. I don't have MAX and don't care to get it until I can watch the entire season with only one month of MAX.

Or maybe it won't be too pricey on Kaleidescape, and I'll go that route. :olddude:

Waiting for the season to end is actually not a bad idea! It's painful having to wait a week for every new episode since the series is a real page turner. I want to sit and binge it all.

I watched this on bluray last night. The one liners coming out of this flick is analogous of getting your face slapped by an avalanche. I laughed until I hurt and I laughed some more. The soundtrack kicked serious butt in the bass department and the CGI was great for most part.

Yeah, I really enjoyed that one as well. I saw it in the theater back in July, and I was surprised how many one liners I missed and finally heard upon my second viewing! Definitely worth multiple rewatches.

Just catching up on series that I'm watching, like Silo, I think it's a great one, also Dune on Max and Black doves on Netflix

I checked out The Wild Robot the other day. The story itself was really good, great movie if you’re watching with your kids.

Honestly though, I was hoping for more from the A/V side of it. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t bad by any means. I guess I was hoping for reference material, and in my opinion, I would say it didn’t live up to my expectations.

Still absolutely worth checking out, I don’t want to turn anyone away from it. I just didn’t get the “wow” factor from the animation and surround effects I was hoping for.

I've yet to watch Deadpool/Wolverine. Feel like I might be one of the few people on earth that hasn't..

No reason to feel lonely about it. I haven't seen it either.

I highly recommend No Good Deed on Netflix. There is only one season, eight episodes.

Our last 3 in the cinema were Babygirl, Nosferatu, and The Complete Unknown; All really brilliant. The Brutalist is this Sat. Looking forward to it. We recently rewatched The Master at home via K-scape with a few friends. That was fantastic as we had not seen it since opening weekend on 70mm way back. We had forgotten so much of it.
