Has anyone in Canada received their unit yet? I ordered mine in January and I keep getting told every month the same story. "In a shipping container on the west coast." "Due by the end of *insert month*" Latest update I've received is June/July. Does anyone know of another make that has solved the HDMI 2.1 issue? I still haven't seen confirmation yet from Yamaha, Denon etc. Thanks... Alex

I had my RZ50 on order August of last year. I was most recently told by the distributor that sells them in Canada that they have 550 on back order and only 300 coming in. They expect to see then end of June to mid July. I got fed up with the constantly moving date so I found a dealer with the NR7100 in stock and went with that instead,

Ordered in January this year. Most recent reply from May 17th:
We still have not received our first shipment from Onkyo on this model.
They have not had any shipped to North America in 2022 due to ship shortages and lock downs in both Malaysia and China.
They are currently on the way to us in Canada and we hope to receive some this month.

My unit just shipped June 17th! Hope everyone gets theirs soon.

Mine was also just shipped on the 18th. I noticed they gave Purolator an incorrect address though. So now I have to hope the changes I made with them work.

I got my RZ50 today. Just finished with the basic setup. (The wifey wanted to watch tv) :) Zero issues so far. All features working for my Series X and PS5. 120hz, VRR, Auto Low Latency, all working as they should. I will be setting up and playing with DIRAC this weekend.

So, after 9 days, I'm not a happy camper. I'm having major HDMI handshake issues. The cables are not "certified" but are version 2.1 and work perfectly when I connect the Series X or PS5 directly to the TV. As soon as I put the RZ50 in the middle, I'm lucky if I can even get a picture. This didn't happen the first few days of ownership. I've talked to the company I purchased the HDMI from. They were surprised with my issues. I'm not though, I've owned many Onkyo with HDMI handshake issues. I've ordered certified HDMI 2.1 cables and should have them tomorrow. Anyone else having issues with Series X and/or PS5? Specifically with ALLM, HDR and VRR enabled. Thanks.

*Edit - I just tried brand new, certified 2.1 cables, no luck. I think my receiver is a dud. 6 months of waiting for this. I don't think I'll be replacing with another Onkyo. Good luck everyone.

I have to factory reset every use which defeats the purpose of having it. I got it so I can split my ps5 / series x between my tv or projector. They share the same audio zone speaker set up. After one power cycle if I try to run again I lose video and sound .

lgcx
ps5
series x
mijia 4k ust projector

amazon 2.1 cables
tried cables included with the consoles too .

no word from onkyo

Not sure why I keep going with onkyo nothing but hdmi issues from every unit I owned .

No HDMI issues here - I think some screens and consoles are finicky....

I am running Sony X90H, Wii-U, PC with Ryzen/Radeon APU running at 4k/60

everything is happy - and always has been

Ive tried different cables soloing out TV and Projector .

lgcx ps5 and xbox were confirmed to work before I bought I feel I have a bad unit

Curious to know if you've had any improvements? Are you running the most recent firmware? I guess I'd ask the same about your TV... current firmware?

Have you confirmed that you're running the most recent firmware across all of your devices/displays and AVR?

yes all are updated bought a new hdmi amd it worked for a day but back to having to reset again.

To me it's a power bug effecting the hdmi board . When the unit discharges ( power removed ) . It resets and works. I can add it to a smart plug to cut the power but that is only a temp solution.

R119 firmware was released over the last day or 2 - are you running R119?

I've also taken to testing all my HDMI cables using the built in tester functions (accessed via web interface with login ciuser/ciuser).

Thanks for asking. I had to exchange my first RZ50. The HDMI board was shot. It would only output when both HDMI outputs were turned on. After receiving the new unit, I have had horrible handshake issues and black screens. But, the RZ50 wasn't to blame entirely this time. I have switched to all optical HDMI 2.1 cables for sources and tv. I have had no issues with black screens anymore at all. I run 6ft optical hdmi from my series x and ps5 to the RZ50 and a 16ft optical hdmi from the RZ50 to the television. Pricey, but worth it.

I have updated to fibre optic
Cable Matters Active 8K from receiver to projector. ( If no issues arise I'll get another for TV )

and

Ruipro8k for both ps5 and series X

Well unfortunately my receiver has issues:
As even going with the above cables I am still having issues. No signal input issue has seized however I have lost sound processing .

I have yet to be able to get ahold of Onkyo.

I know when the issue will occur as I loose osd overlay so the next power cycle will cause no sound unless I unplug the unit.

Edit:
I turned off osd and see if its incompatibility issues with my projector

and I have sent emails to
gibbys ( the retailer ) and
gentec-intl ( onkyo's warranty )
and
Onkyo
Onkyo

I'm sorry to hear you're having issues. I've been down this same road with this receiver, I feel your pain.

I know this may sound like a silly question, and I don't mean to insult your intelligence, but are the new HDMI cables connected in the correct direction? They are active, so will only work in one direction. Lastly, my first RZ50 would lose OSD also. I didn't lose audio, just black screens and massive handshake issues. I was fortunate enough to be under the exchange policy of where I purchased the RZ50 and received a new unit.

You could try using one of the included HDMI/USB power adapters that came with the RUIPRO HDMI on the Cable Matters HDMI. You shouldn't need them on the shorter RUIPRO cables.

Lastly, try changing the HDMI OUT to Main + Sub. (Shortcut button located on the remote at the top, in between Power and Sleep) My first receiver would work if I did that.

No worries I chuckled but am aware of the cables being directional ( all 3 ) the response time has greatly improved from certified 2.1 to cert fibre optic 2.1 . The old me would say an hdmi cable is just a cable but having bought multiple I am now a firm believer some are better than others.

main + sub is my default ( my setup is same zone ) TV lowers when not in use . So it is the one that made the most logical sense.

Dolby Vision is dedicated to sub as it's the display that supports it.

Definitely be sure your cables are oriented correctly. Also, when it comes to 2.1 cables, make sure you're buying cables that are Ultra Certified with an actual working (scannable) certified label on the package.
