Yesterday's very interesting vinyl selection. Alan Lomax, that pure genius had the smarts to record old folk songs that would have died away with time but have been captured for future. Brilliant!!!

SHAMELESS SELF-PROMOTION TIME

For all fans of power-pop and rock, my band from 20 years ago got all the members together during the pandemic to drink together over Zoom for a weekly happy hour, which turned into about 60 new song ideas and at least one new album, which dropped on the digital streaming services today! Check it out!

The album began as a track-by-track response to Liz Phair's Exile in Guyville album, which was itself a track-by-track response to The Rolling Stones' Exile on Main Street. We had to cut it down to 12 tracks, but each one is written from the point of view of the bumbling loser idiot "guys" Liz Phair was singing about on her album.

Also, if you dig it and would like to grab a copy on vinyl, let me know. We did a limited pressing of 200 copies, sure to be collector's items.

I don't get enough sleep, I don't eat properly, and I don't do windows.

It's weird to say that I'm "in a band" since we live all around the country now, but 20 years ago I was in a band, and during the pandemic we reconnected for some Zoom happy hours, which turned into tossing a bunch of song ideas around via text message and google drive, which ended up in about 60 song demos, which we pared down to an album's worth. We played an album release party in Houston last month - Houston because two band members live there vs one everywhere else. Seattle, LA, SF, MPLS...

I caught Covid I suspect on Wednesday of last week, on Tylenol and Advil non stop Thursday and Friday, Advil Saturday evening and off pain meds for the remained of the week. I never spiked fever as it felt like a man cold. I'm still testing positive and had a prostrate biopsy done this morning. I'm full of anger and rage and my music listening today will reflect this. End of rant.
