Movie Roll Call: What have you seen lately?

Watched Despicable me 3 with the kids Sunday night. as usual it had its funny moments and was entertaining.

Westworld... no, not that one, this one!

Apocalypse Now-DVD

Creep 1 and 2 was better then I expected.

Yeah, Darron Aronofsky's works are not for everyone. Some people ADORE his arthouse films like Tree of Life or mother! (and I can appreciate his skill), but usually I don't ENJOY them, if you know what I mean.

Yes, unless you are aware of his philosophy prior to watching it can be tough to understand what’s going on. I think most of us can pick up on the idea that there is some sort of evil present. To be honest my interpretation, not knowing his sick twist on religion, while watching the film was that he was the devil.

Yes wife and I thought he was the devil too.

he's honestly one of the most talented visual director's I've ever seen, but IMO he's an egotist and can get too far into his arthouse mind sometimes. Black Swan was on the edge, but The Fountain and mother! are a bit out there for most general audiences. He's highly divisive as his fans LOVE him, but most general audiences get frustrated. His most accessible film is probably The Wrestler

and back on topic for roll call. Finished up Groundhog Day and posted my review today. I forgot how much fun this flick was!

Girls Trip was good and funny. The bass was ok until the hallucination scene. I was like now that's what I'm talking about. It went pretty low I though.

I finally got to see Power Rangers. WOW the movie has some incredible bass. Not a terrible movie either I enjoyed watching it with my kids.

The Villainess.
Two things I didn't care for;
1. Reminded me of an upscale improved Korean version of Point of No Return (yeah, didn't bother me too much).
2. You just watched her take out 30 guys all by herself,... so guy number 31 thinks yeah, I can take her out. This has always bothered me, Bruce Lee films are a prime example.
But, don't let these little nit-picks bother you, I still enjoyed and highly recommend it.

Ash vs Evil Dead season 2. Ash is one cool crazy guy.

I love that series. Season one took a bit to get into, but by the second half was gangbusters.

I know. I have one more episode left to watch of season 2. I am sure they will leave it open for a 3rd season.

third season starts at the end of next month (Feb 25th)

My wife and I went and saw Molly's Game last night at the theater, Its based on a true story of a woman who gets involved in high stake poker games and figures out how to make millions and not play a single game. The story is slow and has some interesting facts but in my opinion not worth the money spent to see it in a theater. My wife really enjoyed it but in my opinion its a good rental.

None here lately. Working on picking out some surround speakers. WAF nixed my last try. 0 out of 3 tries.. Ran out of speakers. And the last ones sounded soooo good.

The Big Sick... really enjoy this flick!

Blade Runner 2049... was okay, not as enamored of it as a lot of people. Think it falls well short of the original. Then again, maybe I need to watch it a few times. Perhaps it'll grow on me?

Watched the aircraft double header:

Flight (Blu-ray)
Sully (4k)

Both intriguing movies... but I need to give the nod to Flight. Thought it was a compelling drama!

Haven't seen Flight but I did watch Sully a week or so ago and I liked it. I also watched Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. I enjoyed that as well.

I've owned Flight for a few years and never cracked it... really glad I did!

Watched Rogue One... really liked the audio presentation (listened to it unmixed to Atmos), although thought it might be a tad front heavy? Picture quality of the BD was phenomenal.

Watched The Accountant on Blu-Ray. Really enjoyed it.
