Movie Roll Call: What have you seen lately?

My wife and I watched The Green Book last night. We both thought that it deserved all the Oscars that it had won and then some. Viggo was excellent as well as Mahershala Ali. I highly recommend this film to everyone here at Nirvana!

Glad you posted this.. I need to ad this one to my buy list.

Green Book was good, but I liked BlacKKKlansman more. Mahershala Ali is fantastic.

We put on the UHD disc of Bumblebee the other night, for no other reason than I thought it would look and sound good and I could get my eye-and-ear-candy fix. I was really disappointed. I didn't like the fake grain they added, and the sound was anemic, like the Disney disc problems (was it Disney? I didn't even look). The level was low, the bass was weak. It was super disappointing. The female lead turned in a good performance, though, and the car was likable.

I never thought I'd review a Transformers film and actually prefer the film over the tech specs, but here we are.

I've been watching the recent 'Chernobyl' on HBO and it's very well made (story, acting, art direction). I'm not sure how accurate the events and people involved are since I only knew a little bit about the event before watching it but I highly recommend at least getting through the first 30 mins. or so.

I watched the first episode and had the opposite reaction. I thought it was intensely boring. For a show about nuclear meltdown, it had zero tension for me. Hard pass.

Interesting! I can't stop watching the show! Maybe my taste is the slow drawn out plots..lol. : )

It gets better. You really should give episode 2 a try. Quite intense actually.

I watched both Free Solo (thanks Todd!) and The Art of Flight yesterday. I've seen The Art of Flight before but I figured I'd check back in with it and see how my WTW are doing. They're doing fine!

The Sisters Brothers. Great cast but a little disappointing, not very funny, not very dark, not very witty, It was okay, but it did put me to sleep.

Watched 'Glass' last night. Even though it was criticized by many as being a weak film I enjoyed the story!!

How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World

'The Color of Pomegranates' on the Criterion Channel. This movie is absolutely stunning in the way it's shot...it could probably get an Oscar today for art direction and cinematography : )

Captain Marvel - We liked this one. My kids told me that they heard from friends that it wasn't very good but I disagree.

Agree, we enjoyed it as well.

Two I have enjoyed recently:

Deadwood - HBO - a worthy ending to the series

Murder Mystery - Netflix Original with Aniston/Sandler - kinda cheesy, but well done enough that I watched it twice and laughed both times

I watched that back when it came out and I couldn't agree more. Put the series to bed in what I thought was the best way possible.

Watched Pulp Fiction while I caught a workout and breakfast today.... for the eleventh-thirteenth time.

What film.

I never watched Deadwood. High quality?

One of the top series from HBO in my book. :T
