Movie Roll Call: What have you seen lately?

Surprised no one busted my chops on this one! lol It really wasn't that good of a movie. Michael's review was spot on for Dumbo!

lol. I literally bit my lip from going "are you flipping kidding me?" when I saw your post. wasn't going to burst your bubble, but now that you've given us the proverbial goahead lol....

I almost forgot about this thread, but found it again while looking for opinions on Alita: Battle Angel. Well, I watched it last weekend, and wow what a ride that was. Especially the Atmos soundtrack - really great immersion and fantastic low end. Hoping they made enough money to consider exploring that story further.

The Wolf of Wall Street

Hard to believe that I've owned this forever and never watched. It was a decent movie.

We watched Shazam over the weekend. Pretty good show with really quite good audio. Video definitely had some grain to it but was nice otherwise. It was a good time.

Dumbo watching Dumbo... what's surprising about that? :dontknow:

I watched Ready Player One this weekend and thought it was pretty good. Did not like it as well as Alita, but it was still a fun watch. Not looking forward to round 2 of it nearly as much as I am Alita.

Watch it hillbilly! :paddle:

I am NOT watching Dumbo...nope... not gonna happen!

Apocalypse Now Final Cut 40th Anniversary 4k. The wide screen shots were grainy but the portrait shots were super nice looking. The audio was good with the chopper blade scenes working out the overhead speakers.

John Wick 3

It did not disappoint. Excellent flick.

Hopefully I'll get to check out this film over the weekend. I loved the first 2 so I'm expecting more of the same for the 3rd installment : )

I finished the mini-series, Too Old to Die Young, on Amazon Prime.
It was a very artistic and captivating show directed by The Neon Demon's, Nicolas Winding Refn.

As interesting as the plot and characters were this is NOT a family friendly show. Check it out though!

We watched Aladdin (2019) on blu-ray last night with the kids. The 1992 animated version is one of my favorite Disney originals, and I find myself a little annoyed with all these live action Disney remakes lately (I'm with you, Sonnie: No Dumbo for me). So I was a bit reserved going into this.

I gotta say, though, I had a good time with it. A lot of that had to do with the beautiful visuals and costuming, which looked fantastic on the big screen. There was a lovely feel to the image. And the audio track suited the film really nicely, especially the punchy, weighty and dynamic music selections. Didn't hurt that Naomi Scott is quite stunning, in addition to probably being the show's standout performance. The only thing I didn't like was the Speechless song, which I thought felt a little forced and seemed shoehorned in to pander to some corporate agenda or something - I don't know. Either way, I found it an enjoyable watch.

My assumptions were correct! John Wick 3 was SO much fun! I'm glad the quality of the films are consistent with the each other...they all feel like like they could be played in one sitting without breaks.

Cat Prople (Criterion Collection).

Interesting flick from the 1940s... enjoyable. Perhaps a bit corny with some questionable leaps throughout the plot that left some dangling questions. But, we had about an hour of time for a flick and this one fit perfectly.

It's an amazing 4K UHD trilogy. I'd argue it might be the best
