We watched Aladdin (2019) on blu-ray last night with the kids. The 1992 animated version is one of my favorite Disney originals, and I find myself a little annoyed with all these live action Disney remakes lately (I'm with you, Sonnie: No Dumbo for me). So I was a bit reserved going into this.
I gotta say, though, I had a good time with it. A lot of that had to do with the beautiful visuals and costuming, which looked fantastic on the big screen. There was a lovely feel to the image. And the audio track suited the film really nicely, especially the punchy, weighty and dynamic music selections. Didn't hurt that Naomi Scott is quite stunning, in addition to probably being the show's standout performance. The only thing I didn't like was the Speechless song, which I thought felt a little forced and seemed shoehorned in to pander to some corporate agenda or something - I don't know. Either way, I found it an enjoyable watch.
